The new one is out:
The CNN effect

[B-o]
Big suprise!
CNN is using footage of Georgia's destruction in S. Ossetia and claiming it's the Russian's work in Georgia.
This little war will set the new high water mark in propaganda!

On BOTH sides right Burns? Or is it only the big bad Georgians spreading lies about the Russians who we all know couldn't so much as harm a fly...

"OUTSIDE GORI, Georgia (AP) — Russian troops and paramilitaries thrust deep into Georgia on Wednesday, rolling into the strategic city of Gori and violating the truce designed to end the six-day war that has uprooted 100,000 people and scarred the Georgian landscape. Georgian officials said Gori was looted and bombed by the Russians, who denied the claim. An AP reporter later saw dozens of tanks and military vehicles leaving the city, roaring southeast. "

Nice one Russia

Georgia: Russia leaving Gori, police return
$1:
The police's return to Gori is a significant transition of power in what has been a major flashpoint of the conflict. Georgian troops retreated from Gori three days earlier under heavy fire from the Russians, and most of the city's residents fled amid the fighting.

Side note, using Google earth/You tube to track the fighting so awesome.

Without a doubt, there's a bucket load of propaganda from the Russian side!

My concern is with local news providers. I don't get NTV or первый канал on my cable box.

Saakashvili is bat-shit crazy!

From the New York Times:
$1:
[Saakashvili] added, “We will fight to the end, until the last Russian soldier leaves Georgian soil and this country is not going to be brought to the knees anymore. We are not surrendering, no matter what.”

Mr. Saakashvili’s latest show of bravado came only a day after Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said that she and a special State Department envoy had explicitly and repeatedly warned him not to take any military action against Georgian separatists that might provoke Russia, cautioning that the United States was not prepared to back him militarily if he did. He also appeared to exaggerate the Pentagon’s planned relief operation, making it seem larger and further developed than it was.

“We already saw U.S. Air Force landing in Georgia despite Russians controlling the airspace,” he said, after a C-17 had touched down. “And we will see U.S. military ships entering Georgian ports despite Russians blocking it. That we will see.” He added, “These will be serious military ships.”

But the American military said that although the Navy had been ordered to assist in the humanitarian mission, it had not yet formed its plans and no ships were en route.

Heavy toll for journalists - four killed and four arrested since fighting broke out

$1:
Reporters Without Borders added: "We urged the Russian authorities to release the four NTV and Kanalturk journalists at once, and we reiterate that war reporters are civilians and, as such, enjoy international protection. There are no grounds for arresting a journalist who is just doing his job."

But you provide not even the slightest indication that it's propaganda.
Of course, you just assume that every word is a lie.
At least I provided some real evidence about CNN's lies.

no, you are the one who is assuming.. to your detriment.. asses like you
should know better by now.

what i will say is this; life in the Caucuses is not easy, never has been.
there are a million reasons to hate your neighbors over there,
something i'll bet you have no experience with.

The Russians are not known for being great respecters of human rights;
i imagine the Georgians are not a lot different.. no one in that nieghborhood is,
and i find it more than a little stupid for all the Westerners running around
screaming about this and that, trying to apply a North American standard
to what is NOT North America.

Its just funny the Russians feel the need now to jump on that bandwagon.

Yes, the difference between the American and Canadian news of the incident is quite striking. It's interesting that the free mass media in the US acts almost like a state-controlled media. They unnquestionably tout the government line, just as they did in Iraq. If anything, they seem to be goading Bush to do something. I guess more blood means more ratings.

I wouldn't go so far to say it is state controlled but the bread crumbs the media follows seems to be rather suspicious. If you have heard of Ron Suskind I would refer you to DN and his interview.
Pt 1

Pt 2

This is all under congressional review and frankly I hope something comes of this but frankly I have my doubts because the difference between national security and national embarrassment as it comes to classified documents is one and the same at least as far as the current administration is concerned.

I'm an ass? Whatever your reasoning, it certainly isn't clear.

I think I made it pretty clear from previous posts that I have a better than average understanding of what's going on over there. I've lived in Russia, travelled all over the country, spent a couple of weeks in the Caucasus and I have an Alani friend who lives in Vladikavkaz.

What really makes you an ass is your so-called North Amercian standard for respecting human rights! That's a laugh!
