Who do you think should stop, the Russians or the Georgians? Anyhow, if one weighs the benefits versus the risks it becomes fairly obvious that this isn't something NATO or the US should get any further involved in. As for our north, it isn't only the Russians who don't respect our sovereignty up there.

I sure hope your not serious, that's like saying the Canadian's or the Russian's should stop, we'd be under our mattresses hiding yesterday and that's what is going on with the Georgian's.

NATO: Belgium Bulgaria Canada Czech Rep Denmark Estonia France Germany Greece Hungary Iceland Italy Latvia Lithuania Luxembourg Netherlands Norway Poland Portugal Romania Slovakia Slovenia Spain Turkey United Kingdom United States

Think about it: Would it be wise for the Yanks or other NATO nations to risk a conflict with Russia over some little scrap of land in the middle of nowhere?
To that I'll add that it is not a certainty that the Russians are in the wrong here, although their actions seem excessive.

Well, personally, I HATE the Russian's, they tried to destroy North America once, nuke us. I have a memory of that fact as do many others. They need to be stopped again is all I can say.

I hate agreeing with Streaker on most things but he's unfortunately right about this one. Russia is engaging in the equivalent of swatting an annoying fly. The Caucasus's have been Moscow's stomping grounds for centuries and the West should collectively stay the hell out of any self-righteous involvement whatsoever. This issue should not be made into the end of the world, either figuratively or literally.
The real problem here is that this happened 6 months before the US has changed out Presidents. It turns into a real crapshoot if Commander G.W. Kookolabonza makes it worse by listening to the advice again of those neo-con fucktards who got the US stuck into the Iraq mess. Putin stomping the Georgians, who did plenty on their own to provoke Russian retaliation BTW, should not be made into the equivalent of Hitler going into Poland and we'd all better think twice before we listen to those who are saying that it is.
