no bullshit. just because white people did a good thing that one time does not mean they cease to be racist. racism is systemic. as white people, we have a lot of invisible privilege and many of us refuse to recognise it when it is identified. we go through life having no idea of the threats to life, happiness, and stability faced by Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, because the society we live in is built to give us so much privilege that we aren't even aware of how it affects other people. even when those people tell us they're oppressed, we still don't believe them. oppression happens when people with privilege have the power to regularly exercise injustice without any consequences or even awareness that any wrong has occurred.

when i say "all white people are racist", what i am referring to is that very systemic oppression that we all engender when we refuse to admit that it happens at all, and we instead blame the victim. there is so much racist behaviour ingrained in white society that we aren't capable of knowing just how bad it is.

i am not denying that i am capable of racism, but you clearly don't know the definition of the word. white people do not experience racism.

racism is systemic. it is power, privilege, and prejudice. white people have the power of privilege codified in a system of law, and the ability to use that power and privilege to exercise prejudice with impunity. Black, Indigenous, People of Colour do not have this advantage.

In St. Louis, authorities have charged David Lopez Jackson with arson in connection with two of seven church fires in a predominantly African-American part of the St. Louis area.

Even though Jackson, 35, from St. Louis has been charged for the fires, federal investigators said there is no evidence of a hate crime.

The charges filed against Jackson on Friday in St. Louis Circuit Court were two counts of second-degree arson in the fires at Ebenezer Lutheran Church and New Life Missionary Baptist Church, both in the city.

St. Louis Police Chief Sam Dotson said investigations continue into the other fires — three in St. Louis, two in nearby Jennings — and Jackson is a suspect in all of them, according to an AP report at Mashable.

The fires were set between Oct. 8 and Oct. 22. Five of the congregations are predominantly Black, one is racially mixed and one is mostly white.

The fires spurred a hate-crime investigation to determine if the attacks were motivated by race or religion. But the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives downplayed that possibility in a statement on Friday.

“There appears to be no indication of a hate crime or sign … any one particular Christian denomination or ethnic group was being targeted,” the federal agency said.

Dotson gave no alternative explanation for the attacks, saying investigators “are still trying to understand” the motive.

As a board we should demand that roman apologize to all of us immediately for calling all of us racists and for ignoring the truth of this case to promote his toxic hate-filled agenda. If he doesn't he should be permanently banned.

Almost every user here harbours a bias based on selective racial reasoning that they've admitted here in one way or another. Some people are weaker than others with this, but almost no user here is comfortable admitting white and male privilege exists.

Some cultures shouldn't mix because they're too different and in the long term are not capable of getting along. And if you want to examine a culture that's soaked in male privilege, to the point where being a rapist is literally a badge of honour, then you should look a lot more closely at Islam. You want to complain about some frat boys using roofies to assault girls? Take a walk around a Muslim community, where not only can they do things like rape openly and not get punished at all, they then turn around and murder the girl that got victimized because "she dishonoured her family".

I'd actually consider allowing more Muslim women to immigrate here for their own safety. Kind of like what the underground railroad did for escaped slaves from the southern states I the 19th century. No more Muslim males though. If you want privilege that approaches a level of psycopathy then take a closer look at the way those pricks behave on a daily basis.
