We get calls for justice systems reforms every time we get one of these verdicts. But what reforms? do we want to take away the right of appeal? That cuts both ways, and some people have been convicted on second trials. The judge made the best call in her eyes. She heard all the evidence, we didn't. I think this verdict is a shame, in that I think the woman is guilty, but I have to go with the judges judgement - that's what we pay them for.
I would like to see a fund started that would allow this family to sue this woman. At least it would be hanging over her if she ever got any money. And, I don't understand why the crown can't appeal this verdict?
