MacDonaill MacDonaill:
Francophones will continue to demand that their federal government serve them in French, and if the Fed won't oblige, then they will have no reason to continue recognising that government. Then the rest of Canada can wave bye-bye to the only interesting part of the country. Your choice, I guess.

Mac, I don't disagree with your overall opinion, but I am curious...didn't you oppose the proposal to require bilingualism for Supreme Court justices? If so, how do you reconcile these two seeminly conflicting ideas?

so if it was 'the feds' that forced this dam bilingualism down your throat lets do away with it. You can keep it in Qc, but lets not force the rest of the nation to put it on our cereal boxes.

Once again...its the decision of the Parliament of Canada.. nobody from Québec forces you to do anything. And I really have issues with the "our cereal boxes" comment. Since when is the food supply an English only deal? Once again to refresh your memory.. There are TWO OFFICIAL LANGUAGES IN THIS COUNTRY FRENCH AND ENGLISH... ENGLISH AND FRENCH! get over it!

There's a little more to it despite your quaint summation of bilingualism in Canada.

Sorry to say but Canada IS A BILINGUAL COUNTRY. Get over it.

Canada has two official languages because it was founded upon that notion, it is not a bilingual country. Get over it.

All that I learned was from reading/writing on the Internet. YOU do no not have our racist laws that tell us to learn only french.

Did the majority of Quebecers vote for that government that created those racist laws?

No.

How did you get those racist laws then? Dictatorship?

You know what a first-past-the-post election type is right ? You know, where you can get a majority of seats with a plurality of votes ? Something we use in Canada ?

I just hope, one day, a majority of Quebec residents will realize the downward spiral that the PQ/BQ put them in, and will save themselves from the stupidity. Quebec is an essential part of Canada, and I'd hate, nor do I ever expect Quebec to leave the Dominion, but only the citizens and residents of Quebec can save themselves.

There are 7.5 or so million people in Quebec, and a great deal of them are able to use their brain to choose a candidate to represent them on the local, provincial, and federal level. Once Quebecers realize the silliness of PQ/BQ positions, especially over internal corruption, will they finally start cleaning up that glorious province.

It has always been the case... The BQ and the PQ NEVER got a majority of votes. They have always been only a minority of Quebecers who support separatism.

The problem is, that minority gives them a great deal of seats.

There's a lot of questions there but the fact remains that democracy is the majority rules regardless of what system it is so.....yeah tell me how you get those laws Quebecers hate so much (or at least you hate so much). Somebody has to get in power from 'somebody'.
