An hour after my last post it truly dumped again. The trouble is the patchiness (isn't it always?). Sure has gone a long way towards refilling dugouts, sloughs and groundwater levels! The lake looks better than it has in years.

Geez, goes to show what I don't know about farming. I woulda thought this year's sequence (rain/heat/more rain/????) might've met expectations.

I'm still struggling to understand how early crop development is caused by excessive heat and dryness, and how that leads to lower yields. Would a period of excessive moisture (rain is forecast to be ongoing for the next week) restore the balance and increase yields?
