It wasn't really a carbon copy answer as much as it was a political answer, which really wasn't an answer at all. 8O

Who gives a shit about him living a drug free life and not regretting it, alot of us did. But I'm pretty sure there are some drug users out there who don't regret their druggie lifestyle either.

So next time answer the freakin guestion.

Yup especially musicians, artists.

Harper shouldn't comment on something he nows nothing about, Lemmy on the other hand....

As if we needed further evidence Harper is a retard.

Here's a simple idea - let consenting adults do what they will with their lives. Legalise it (and other drugs), tax it at a rate that recovers the costs to the public (and while you're at it, do the same for tobacco), and come down like the hammer of thor on any retailer who sells these products to people under the age of 18.

Then, take all that money you saved by not having a war on drugs, and use it to destroy the various criminal elements that remain.

Oh wait, that would be a logical idea that leaves people free to do what they want with their lives. So no political party will do it - logic, freedom, these things are the antithesis of our political parties.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
The most popular question. When Obama had a YouTube interview, it was also the most popular question.

And you think this is good? That the biggest issue over teenagers and young Canadians is weed?

I give Harper props for attempting to use the medium. The question i would have asked is on the issue of Health care as it pertains to the retiring baby boomers and if there is any idea of a strategy at all for at home care over institutional care. After all they are now retiring (early) this year and the tidal wave is about to hit. The system will not be able to care for them as it is set up now and we need action.

Unfortunately, few Canadians have any idea of the difficulties we potentially face. I was reading (MacLeans, I believe) that over the next 20 or 30 years we have something like a 1.5 trillion unfinanced liability in health care alone. That's a lot of money; an annual cost of something like 2-3X what we currently pay. No one is talking about that, no one is making plans. Quite the opposite in fact - the current gov has driven us deeper into debt, and the opposition is criticising them for not driving us deep enough.

But hey - what do they care. Harper, Ignatieff, etc, will all be gone and dead before the s**t really hits the fan.

I'm sure Harper has his plans. Just doesn't want to reveal them (or remind people of what he said as head of the NCC) until he can get his majority. I'm just not sure how going to a US style health system will benefit us. They still have 50% of their health system govt funded (vs 70% for us) and pay a lot more.

Social Security will faced the same kind of pressures.

To truly reverse the aging of our population, we'd have to triple our immigration to 750,000 a year, and make sure they're all young, breeding, couples and their kids. No family reunification class grannies. Good luck with that. What would they do for jobs, where would they live>

Maybe it's time to rethink a system that's based on continual growth, and continuing increase in material affluence. Not like we're the only country in the world in this situation. China's looming demographic problems make ours seem like a walk in the park.

Surely no one expected an answer that in any way would be positive with regard to any kind of drugs. It’s not going to happen.

More to the point, roughly thirty thousand hits on the “speech”. What a waste of time and bandwidth. Harper thinks he’s reaching a new audience and avoiding the embarrassing “question asking press”. The man is nuts.
