Been checking out the sample notes that came with the Bank of Canada info package at work. It will be weird to get used to having such different looking and feeling currency. The holograms are kinda neat though.

One thing for sure IMO is that it will take the fraudsters awhile to even try to replicate it. It IS entirely different from what we are used to.

Through work, I've seen some fake paper currency first-hand. Quite easy to spot actually. Only once in the newer generation of currency (with the shiny stripe down the left-hand side) but moreso in the previous generation, of which there is still some in circulation.

Neat. Too bad I rarely ever have a $100 bill in my possession (or cash for that matter).

I've been passed fake $100 bills at work although the simple lack all the saftey checks stymied that. The donut shop girls near the Pearson airport say they get quite a few fakes in that neck of the woods.

Really! Why do we even have 50 and 100 dollar bills? :?: Most people use debit cards anyway. We could do very well with just 5's, 10's and 20's. Let the banks use the bigger stuff if they need it. 20's should have come out first anyway.

Because the Mohawk drug, cigarette, and gun smugglers don't like carrying bags full of $20's.

That's why we can't have $1000 bills anymore.

Sure we can have $1000 bills. Just ask your heating oil delivery guy, he'll be happy to give you one!
