The law does not see it that way. Bars do have a responsibility to cut people off and to not allow people obviously intoxicated to be served.

I agree that drunks who drive and kill people or are prosecuted should have no standing to sue the bar but what about the victims of the driver?

They just might have a case against a bar with 50 cent pint nights.

The law only permits a certain amount of alcohol blood content. If you are a designated driver and are in a bar, anything more than 1 drink, regardless of cost, can result in your license being taken away if caught. If a person chooses to get totally smashed, they should not be driving anyways. If they drink enough that it actually affects them, they should not drive. Not the bars fault. I can understand alcohol poisoning. But drinking/driving just seems unacceptable to hold the bar responsible.

This all comes back to the nanny state. We like to blame others for our own stupidity. It's like a crackhead suing the RCMP because he managed to aquire drugs that ruined his life.

This isn't just about driving. Bars have been sued because a drunk passed out on train tracks and died.

Families of the victims of a drunk have sued the bars and won. I've been a bartender before and it is our responsibility to cut people off.

Like it or not bars become very liable to litigation when they have promotions and prices that encourage people to drink alot of alcohol.

I fully understand. The law works, but sometimes it doesn't always work fully. Murderers get away with 5 years for murder. Bar owners get sued for the choices ppl make. I'm all for cheap alcohol though. Let the people decide I say.

Thats jokes~! But I can't help feeling sorry for them because they did say "suffrage". How many 13 year old teenage girls even know what "suffrage" means?

I'm sure they wouldn't mind 50c drinks.
