Really?? You must be living under a rather large rock if you can't see what is really happening, just like back in '97 when the teachers went on strike. Same BS every time. They 'do it for the children' yet those same children are denied their right to learn and grow as a person. The kids lose term work, ISU's, and can have more than a major headache if this happens while they are setting up post-secondary aspirations.

The teachers meanwhile, sit on hands, get paid to strike, and don't lose a pinch from their pensions or have to answer to anyone, save their union, who are responsible for most of the mess in the first place.

Teachers complain because of the volunteer work and the fact they have to mark papers and such after the fact? TOO BAD! They should have found a different profession then. No one forced them into teacher's college. No one forced them to take up a career in a challenging environment.

Zero sympathy, period.

I'm sick and tired of students/children always getting the short end of the stick. I went through it, and I saw the BS first hand. Those selfish bastards should get the hell back to their desks, and if they can't do that, find people that can. Until they actually work a day in their lives, they can shove it.

. Completely false. They don't get paid or earn pension while on strike. The 100 bucks a week they get if they spend a certain amount of time on the picket line is nothing and it comes out of their Union dues.

OMG you are a thick one. They're not complaining!! Nobody's complaining but you. They enjoy the volunteering and accept the marking, dealing with nightmare parents and their nightmare kids as part of the job. First you accuse them of not having to work hard, then when they show you that they do in fact work hard, you change gears and say "look everyone they're complaining that they work hard!" That would be a typical Stephen Harper slime ball tactic, I wouldn't put it past OTI to pull something like that but you my friend, I think stumbled on it by accident.

The public service shouldn't be allowed to unionize, or at least not be allowed to strike.
Let's get one thing straight first. The govt is not their boss, WE are.

The public servants work for the Minister. The Minister works for the government. That's a critical distinction. Depending on your perspective of the current government, they do or don't work for you. They work for you to the extent that you get to vote in a new one every four or five years.

Unlike a private sector strike, public sector strikes hold the taxpayer hostage. And before BF comes in with his usual response about public sector employees are taxpayers too, let's just straighten that out. Public sector salaries wouldn't exist without the tax base from the private sector.

What would be the state of the private sector without the public sector? No schools, no police, no hospitals, no military, no borders. You need to think these things through.
