$1: The family went to the Halifax police and the RCMP who, after nearly a year of investigation, determined that there was insufficient evidence to lay a charge for either sexual assault or child pornography.

Anonymous claims the Police and Crown did a half-ass job and didn't look too seriously as they think they have incriminating evidence (such as the EXIF data on the image, as well as admissions by the perps).

BartSimpson BartSimpson: Thanos Thanos: No but most men, despite their own best efforts, are going to have quite a lifestyle change when they industry they work in gets packaged up and shipped wholesale to China or Sri Lanka. True. Then you man-up, suck up your pride, and go find a new career. Especially if you have a family depending on you. That's a lot easier said than done Bart. Trust me I know, I did just that after getting laid off in 2009. Getting established in a new career in your late 30s/early 40s is not an easy thing to do.

Still, you do what you have to do and I respect you for not crying about it. ![Drink up [B-o]](./images/smilies/drinkup.gif)

And who's word are you going to take? Why would the RCMP and crown be uninterested in persuing this case? They're taking a lot of grief here, don't you think they'd love to charge somebody? In the Port Moody case, the cops came on all hot and heavy at first, but slowly their investigation petered out. And sometimes, that's just the way it has to be, unless you want to lynch people just on a girl's or family's say so.

BartSimpson BartSimpson: andyt andyt: $1: The lieutenant said the arrests were the result of information gathered by his agency's Saratoga High School resource officers Whereas the information gathered by the RCMP in Rehtaeh's case led the attorney general's office to coclude there was not likelihood of a conviction. You see the difference, Bunky? Or do you really want trial by media? In the Rehtaeh case they're not even going to give a trial by jury a spin. They're just letting the local rapists run free because they're popular kids with well-connected parents. I hope Anonymous performs justce on them because the RCMP certainly won't. Probably best if they're just killed outright. Evidence and such can be an inconvenience and all of the social media activists at this time are baying for blood now before the next Star Trek movie comes out to wrench their attention away.

BeaverFever BeaverFever: BREAKING NEWS Update: Police just announced they are reopening the case based on "New evidence". What a coincidence, eh? http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scot ... pened.htmlAt least they're going to investigate further instead of just dropping it and hoping that the public will move on.

What a coincidence, eh? http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scot ... pened.htmlMight actually be a coincidence. Enough pressure is piling on that maybe someone has photos that are more conclusive or maybe someone is ready to peach. That being said, reopening hardly means charges will be laid. Hopefully something new has turned up and they nail them with it.

Hopefully something new has turned up and they nail them with it. I don't think that that is a feasible option at this point. If the police don't charge somebody, private information is going to be released about the perpetrators...guilty or not. Well, at least seeing how civilisations collapse, first hand, is mighty neat compared to reading about it in books!

$1: The new information did not come from an online source, police said in a news release. They said a person has come forward with information. That person is willing to identify themselves to police and work with authorities as part of the investigation. Probably the problem all along - nobody would talk. Same as happened in Port Moody, except the girl didn't kill herself, but spoke out strongly, and nobody's come forward.

Benn Benn: And today a very similar story out of the states. 3 have been arrested. Unfortunately action was only taken after she killed herself here too. http://t.news.ca.msn.com/world/3-us-tee ... ls-suicideI read this earlier there is a couple of diffrences but the results are the same a young girl is rapped and takes her life. In this case she did not report it and when the pictures started to circulate at her school she took her life. To me this is such a tragic thing where these girls are not just rapped but have to deal with ruined reps and peers who treat them like they were in the wrong. How about parents taking a bit of time out of their lives and teaching their children to be humanbeings instead of self absorbed jerkwads. Sorry if this seems a bit... tame I did about 10 rewrites just so I would not get introuble for language.

BartSimpson BartSimpson: Then you try to beat the other 199 people and you also keep looking. Having been laid off five times between 2000 and 2009 I can say that I've been there and done that.
Maybe you should have been doing your job instead of racking up posts here, you might not have got fired so often. We go through slow times and the really good employees NEVER get laid off. Just saying.
