It really doesnt matter, the public doesnt care much about vets except on Nov 11. We hear a lot about the people dying in Afghanistan but never about the injured. Also you can quit with the ignorant civi stuff, that's at best an easy dodge and at worst an ad hominem.

I know only was as been told to me from a few people who were there, early off in 92 it was quite rough. By 95 it was pretty laid back, since things had all but settled down. In 2001 it was just a peacekeeping tour where you could sit drink coffee and have Slivovich shooters.

OMFG "just a peace keeping tour" . I had a friend who was "just on a peace keeping tour" he's had nightmares for years over it. That's just the part he IS ALLOWED to tell you. What I'm trying to tell you is take what you think you know, subtract 99% of that, that as a civi is what you know.
