So you're no different than a muslim?

Okay before we go there do you consider Muslims tolerant of other religions? (Keep in mind that right here in Canada imams preach death to gays and other forms of infidels and are never cited for hate crimes).

Only idiots would speak for millions. I've met some who are very tolerant. There are those who are not.

Yes just as I have met tolerant ones as well, but the problem is these imams routinely preach hate(I remember about a year ago an imam in Montreal was advocating death to ALL gays and fellow Muslims that didn't practice Islam 'properly') and they basically fuck it up for everyone. Having that status as 'imam' carries a lot of clout and it goes without saying that it fuels bigotry towards Muslims in a most major way.

I agree. Therefore fighting the urge of bigotry becomes more important. Bigotry will not, ulitmately, help the situation. It will ensure it gets worse.

It's a pity the tolerant ones either turn a blind eye to the jihadi's or give them tacit support.

It's a similar situation to Catholics support or refusing to challenge the IRA.

Until the tolerant Muslims do something about the radicals, we are right to be very suspicious.

That goes for every form and shape of radicalism, right?

So why does no one stand up to the Pope when AGAIN, he claims condoms should be condemned, and using them only make the AIDS problem bigger? I find that pretty radical myself...

*edited "not be condemned" to "condemned". I take it everybody got what I meant., but still *

Well between you and me, the pope is nothing more the an idiot in a funny hat.
Besides, I don't take anything seriously from an organization that aided several members of the Nazi leadership in escaping Europe after the end of WW2 and then elects a former Hitler Youth member as their leader.
A group that routinely breaks the first commandment, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me" by praying to Mary and the saints.

And yes, I find the Catholic Church to be quite intolerant themselves on many issues and have spoken out against them many times.

I take it you are not a Catholic :)

What "we" are yelling towards the muslims, is that the moderate ones should stand up. But do the "moderate" Catholics stand up?

*Edited same thingy :P*

I answered the question from MY perspective. I have spoken out against the RCC and the pope many times. Sorry but I can't answer for the millions that listen to his idiocy, just like I can't answer for the millions of muslims that listen to their radical idiocy.

No, I am NOT Catholic. And from the looks of things, moderate Catholics don't stand up either, but then again, the pope isn't exactly telling them to blow themselves and others up.

The point might then be, that you don't know how many moderate muslims are speaking out against radicalism because they, like you, do it in small groups in coffee shops or basements or whatever.

Or has your speaking out against the Pope been on national tv like you seem to expect moderate muslims to do?

As a matter of fact, my views have been on TV, Radio, newsprint.
Besides, talking about it amongst yourselves isn't exactly doing something about it now is it.

Let's say some people overhear that someone is going to cause harm to you and your family. Now, don't you feel better knowing that those people might be sitting in some coffee shop or basement discussing it instead of going to the police?

Interviewed? No. It was around the time when the big push was on to help Ethiopia. Someone suggested sending condoms and showing them how to use them. Pope John Paul II at the time shot down that idea.
The local TV staion, which happened to be the CBC had a crew out asking people their reactions to Ethiopia. I said that "the pope seemed to prefer that people keep reproducing and having their children die rather than try to come up with a viable solution." And that, "Despite what the pope thinks, he is not the leader of Ethiopia OR the free world and if he has no viable solution to the problem, he just needs to shut up."

Now, gonna answer my question?
