Imeson still on the loose

Named as suspect in double homicide

By JOHN MINER, SUN MEDIA

Jesse Imeson is described as six- foot-one, 200 pounds, with short -- almost shaved -- brown hair, brown eyes and numerous tattoos on his arms. (Police photo)

Double murder in Ont.

He’s desperate and without resources. He’s also the quarry of a national manhunt.

Already wanted by police on suspicion of first-degree murder in the death of a Windsor bartender last week, Jesse Imeson is now also considered a suspect by police in the double homicide of a Huron County farm couple whose bodies were found Monday.

Chances are good that if Jesse Imeson is found, it’ll be after a crime has been committed, one London observer said today.

“I think that’s how he’ll eventually be tracked down and caught,” said Paul Whitehead, a criminologist at the University of Western Ontario.

“He’ll be searching for opportunities. He won’t probably think them out very well and will probably do some pretty dumb things that would make his apprehension more easy than it might be if he wasn’t under all this pressure.”

Whitehead said while Imeson may be determined to elude police, it’s likely to get tougher for him.

Already missing for a week since the body of the Windsor bartender was found, Imeson will need to find ways to support himself on the lam.

“He’s going to need money. He’s going to need to buy food, he’s going to buy gasoline, he’s going to need to steal vehicles and that’s going to lead to being able to tracking him down,” Whitehead said.

Now that he’s been linked as a suspect to the weekend slayings of the South Huron couple, Bill and Helen Regier, Imeson may be unafraid to do anything to protect his freedom.

“If you’re on the hook for one homicide, other homicides are simply means to an end,” Whitehead said.

Most Canadian homicides are committed by people who know their victims.

Only 18 per cent of victims were killed by strangers in 658 homicides in 2005, recent national figures show.

It appears the South Huron couple died for a desperate purpose — the theft of their grey 2006 GMC Sierra pickup truck, still missing today.

For authorities, the question is whether Imeson is still in southern Huron County or whether he’s moved on.

Imeson was captured on video tape last Friday at a bar in Grand Bend, where the Windsor bartender’s car turned up abandoned.

The OPP, in turn, mounted a massive weekend ground and air search for Imeson that extended into southern Huron County, about eight kilometres from where the bodies of the slain couple were found.

While warning for the public to be cautious, police said they don’t know where Imeson is but couldn’t rule out he’s still in the area.

Whitehead said there’s no way to know what Imeson’s “geographic comfort zone” is.

Still, he likely knows “the place he is known best is also the place where he is best known, so he is apt not to stay there,” he added.

Any hiding place will become risky as the manhunt and publicity mount, he said.

“Clearly, he places a priority on eluding the police, but that’s hard to do when you have so many people looking for you in a highly publicized situation,” Whitehead said.

Well all those clever folk who brag about never watching the news are currently in the cross-hairs.

Having his face broadcast so widely should be helpful.........

He's hot and so is that truck.........he could disappear into the GTA or Quebec successfully....currently everyone from the GTA to Windsor is looking over their shoulder.

That'll likely be the ultimate end for him, hopefully he does that before he kills anyone else.

I think that is likely a done deal. I'm basing my opinion on this doesn't appear to be a career criminal. The pics used of him don't appear to be police mug shots. I think this guy just snapped for whatever reason. He likely wouldn't be able to hold it together once it hit the media that he was being sought. I highly doubt he would have the ability to continue to allude the police thus far unless he has found somewhere to hole up so to speak. Since he has shown he does have the killer instinct though I guess it's possible he could be in someones home. He would be very hard to find or detect if he were careful.

not convinced that facebook will be that much of a help in catching this guy . most likely he will make a stuiped mistake in public somewhere this could be at a store or hotel or highway somewhere and thats how he'll get caught.
or someone that knows him will rat him out when they find out where he's hiding.

They found the truck he stold from the murdered elderly couple in Renfrew yesterday or this morning,
I live about an hour away from Renfrew, looks like he might be trying to make it to Ottawa, everyone thought he'd head out west.

My friend and his family cancelled their camping plans in Mt Echo.

But if it is a properly registered gun he wouldn't dare use it for an illegal purpose, right?

Very distinctive Tatt's...the one that runs down the hand would be the one to spot....not many people would have the heavy black moving onto the hand. Hope they find him soon....desperate people are the most dangerous, what would another murder mean to him, Nothing! just another day free.

Just a matter of time before the "fun" is over for him, hopefully he'll get tired of running and decide to blow his own brains out before he snuffs out any other innocent people for their vehicle, food and cash.
