Looks like the training agent in the Montreal police force is being paid by Taser, is a shareholder of Taser, is actively promotnig Taser devices.

One of the difficulties surrounding this tazer issue is the larger issue of a perceived "cop attitude." This is too often inspired by a minority of peace officers with bad attitudes----perhaps these individuals have the impression that they are rulers rather than servants. These anomolies are not helpful in adjudicating tazer use.

60 minutes did a show one this. The bottom line is that Police are suspemded with pay and all to often even though convicted of assault etc are reinstated.

I agree with you sasquatch. I dont really think tasers are a good thing. The idea that a cop may use a gun to take down a criminal who is a danger or has a weapon is one thing. but using tasers on people who are acting stange or resisting is not good. People who have various illness ie heart disease or asthma will not survive a taser. I truly believe they should be banned or if not only used in situations where there is immenent danger to the life of the cop or another citizen. And since when would a suspension with pay be a bad thng? not that you said that... but if I was a cop I would see that as a reward..
