Things are probably quite different where you are, here most of the reservists dont give a shit when they go out to recruit. They were at the mall a few months ago, I was on leave and had not shaven for about a week and started looking at the C-7/M203. The SWAT who was working the station was just staring off into la la land it was only until I started to take it apart that he moved. He asked me if I was in the military, I told him I was with 4 ESR. He then asked what reserve unit that was because he never heard of it, I explained it was the Reg Combat Engineer regiment. He then asked what my job was like.... I was not impressed. At first I thought he was screwing with me because I attempted to take the rifle apart, when he was genuinely surprised by what I told him I did on tour I got a little worried.

Granted most people who work at the recuiting office are quite good at their job, and I do think that the rest of the military needs to do more to promote itself. Not just recruiting, it would take nothing to call up our regiment and ask us to drive a LAV down to a school for a day.

Now that is a great idea, bunch of LAV's rolling into the school parking lot and soldiers jumping out like they were in a combat zone storming into the school than stop. "Hey kids, I want to talk to you about the military". That would be sweet, I would have loved a demonstration like that at my school. Not that they needed it for me, was always bound to join the military anyways.

What the Canadian Army needs is a video game, like the U.S. Army one. That was a huge success project for recruiting.
Showing you the training they do, in order to progress to certon classes in the game like a medic. Than the game-play was awsome as well.
Than if that wasn't all, having a cool free game to play for gamers (best target for military). They have lan events that they attend with a official military humvee with the game logo on it and soldiers handing out panflettes on how to join the military.
Recruiting doesn't get any better than that.

What they should do is have an ELAV come out with the robot, that would be cool.

Hmm.. can always use those training guns with the orange casing on the end of the gun with zero ammo in it to avoid any accidents. Of course unless you meant what would the school think/do of soldiers coming in with guns.

The orange casing at the end of a rifle is a BFA, and those are still real guns. No I have a feeling any kind of weapon on school property would have people rasing a stink.

Stink would be the understatement of the century.
Have the presenters rappel out of a Griffon at recess.

Have a radio set up in the presentation. The presenter speaks a few words then seconds later an '18 goes over the roof of the school.

Chain gunning the teachers parking lot would go over really well with the kids.

I've quoted it before and I'll do so again.
"You always hear talk of soldiers dying for their country. Never of killing for their country" Bertrand Russel
That's the reality I face right now. I'm not afraid of having to end someones life but att he same time I am very seriously applying for the forces. I did this once before I admit and got cold feet but I understand the reality of the situation.
