Well, the article doesn't really say that the CF wants to change CADPAT to something else, just that it wants to evaluate its effectiveness and keep on top of the technology by exploring its development to the next level. Considering that the CADPAT project was born in the mid-late 90's and is the product of that decade's technology, that's perfectly reasonable IMO.

Also, CADPAT was developed to be most effective at 300-400 metres, a range derived from conventional warfare dating back to WW2. It seems perfectly reasonable to measure its effectiveness in current combat scenarios against insurgencies, urban warfare, etc.

Considering our "general issue" kit was basically vietnam war-era vintage until the late 90's, I don't see the harm in studying the issue and remaing proactive. I will withold my reservations until I hear of a proposal for change.

I left the CF Reserve before CADPAT, but I have a question for those still in the service: has the problem with premature CADPAT fading been resolved or is it still a problem for newly-issued clothing?

No they are pretty good now, it does fade as all cammo does, but not nearly as bad.

I could see white Cadpat parkas, mucklucks and heavy gloves, the rest should stay the same. What I dont want to see is what the Americans have now; 4 different cammo patterens for each branch of the military.

PENATRATOR PENATRATOR:
Let me guess, you are a young soldier, still buy into the "rah rah" infatry We lead others follow, got a full sleeve tattoo, probably the Barb wire on the bicep also, wear your regimental T-shirt, black jeans and runners to the ranks on Friday night?

Couldn't be farther from the truth

Not exactly sure why you decide to talk about elitist mentality here, yet on the previous page you go ahead and light up Sigpig

You wouldn't ask an infanteer to replace a transmition on a leopard or if that transmition needs replacing in the first place. You talk about cammo, you would want to ask someone who uses it on a regular basis.

Alright, I dont know if you have been out of country but we took our attached sigs with us on patrol all the time. He was more than happy to do all he could to help us out; the same went for our medic. It’s also the sigs who set up relay stations in the middle of nowhere, which they have to conceal extremely well. So I think a sigs have more experience with concealment then you give the credit with. Being a sig is a shitty job in the field most of the time, you will probably learn about this the longer you are in.

So much bickering. Doesn't the military stress team work? Don't you rely on each other to function correctly/fully?

We do work well as a team and I would have the back anyone of these individuals in a heartbeat if they ever needed it, but doesn't mean we don't have different opinions on certain things. But of course I am sure you would know this from your extensive personal experience.

It's a family squabble.

Step back slowly with no sudden moves...

Wow, no shit. It wasn't a personal attack and was taken way out of context. Welcoming forms here. Grow up.
