Men may be doing more housework, but let's face it; as most of us ladies of whom have been married for quite a while will attest, it is never done right. Case in point - 2 weekends ago I went away to mommy to have a break without kids, pets, house and hubby. Hubby and kids (God Bless them) decided to clean the house to surprise me when I got home. Hubby had washed my vinyl floors with BLEACH (yes, all the women are groaning), dear 10yo son had vacuumed without picking up anything big off of the floor (something plastic got sucked up and shredded the belt), no one rinsed the dished before putting them in the dishwasher and about half had to be rewashed, they forgot to put fabric softener in with the towels (nothing being scratched raw after your shower), and to top it all off, it was the time of one of ON's great thaws, the basement was leaking, and no one went down to move back the furniture and carpet (a standard procedure). Needless to say, my weekend of rest turned into a week's worth of repair!
As for painting, drywall, house repairs, fire starting and wood cutting, I am the one who does that. Dear hubby couldn't drywall himself out of a paper bag. And paint belongs on the wall, not the floor. Things I don't do? Garbage, dusting and cooking. (not that I can't cook, he just does a better job and I hate it). All in all, after 15 years, something must be going right...
