And if the statement was lesbians versus men, you would have a point!
They qualified it with marriage, which removed the two heaviest subsets of obese men, divorced and never had a relationship.
So, if it is an issue of just being more like men, we should find a substantial increase in obesity among divorced lesbians. I will look into it.

The average is more healthy weight, not necessarily underweight. Whether this is a averaging issues between two, equally separated points(one partner obese, one partner underweight), or whether this is more consistent (both partners healthy), I do not know, but they do average healthier than straight males.
