Mr. Boyle is either an idiot or a complete liar. Nobody and I mean nobody goes backpacking in a combat zone with their "family". This guy went over there to "connect" with his religious brethren and if you believe him may have just got grabbed by the wrong bunch of goat humping terrorists.
As for him getting millions for his self induced suffering I'd hope not especially since the gov't seems to think he's a bit suspect and has said they'll investigate his story and make sure he's no threat to Canada.
But, then again as long as we have the Trudeau and his apologists running the country anything is possible I guess.
Hmm,
$1:
If we are expected to express joy at the release of Canadian Joshua Boyle who was held hostage five years by Taliban-linked extremists, excuse us if we take a pass.
He’s both an idiot and a fool.
He’s such an idiot that the much-married backpacker was once married to Omar Khadr’s al-Qaeda-loving sister, and we are firm believers in being judged by the company one keeps.
Osama bin Laden attended her second wedding, which speaks volumes about who you are.
That said, we are glad Boyle’s current American-born wife, Caitlan Coleman, was also safely freed with her three children, all born in captivity, and hopefully she will eventually dump the man who thought it was wise to drag a pregnant wife into war-ravaged Afghanistan so that he could reportedly hook up as a “war correspondent” embedded with the Taliban.
Well, he got himself embedded all right.
He made his own bed, and dragged his wife into it.
Having two more kids while in captivity? Well, that’s a puzzler which perhaps might one day be explained.
It was U.S. intelligence that Boyle and Coleman had been moved from Afghanistan to northern Pakistan that led Pakistani special forces commandos to launch their rescue mission earlier this week.
Five of the kidnappers — all linked to the Haqqani terrorist organization connected to the Taliban — were reportedly killed during the raid, and Boyle slightly wounded by flying bullets.
The last words Boyle apparently heard when the assault began was one of his kidnappers yelling “kill the hostages.”
Suffice, he’s one lucky idiot.
The Haqqani are known for demanding ransom for their hostages, as opposed to ISIS’s beheadings, but no ransom was asked.
Instead, the Haqqani demanded Afghanistan cease executing Taliban captives in exchange for Boyle and Coleman’s lives.
Thanks to U.S. intelligence, however, that envelope didn’t need to be pushed to its limits.
There is no question, though, that Canadian-born Joshua Boyle is no innocent hero, not by a long shot.
He is fortunate to be coming home, but don’t count on us to throw out any welcome mat.
It’s not going to happen.
