He'll win, because Trudeau-uh-liberal-elite-immigrants-taxes-Satan.

Your post sounded familiar for some reason? Then it hit me.

Lemmy Lemmy:
How did you arrive at that conclusion?

Do you ever say anything that isn't baseless partisan dreck?

Why not just type "Trudeau sucks cock" every time you feel compelled to post? It would be the exact same contribution to the discussion.

Seems like a great way, if he wins the leadership, to ensure that the Liberals get about 260 seats in the next election. There is no actual "conservatism" anymore, if there really ever was, post-Mulroney/Reagan/Thatcher. Just a series of randomly shifting pro-plutocracy talking points going in whatever direction the popular wind was blowing. It's not like anything of any real value has been or will be lost.

This is true at least.

Today's Conservative Party is anything but conservative, and needs to be tossed out the door.

My favourite picture from childhood is Joe Clark and I. [B-o]

It was all downhill from there.

I met David Peterson, who would become Premier of Ontario, in high school.

A bit of hero worship is fine.

Joe Clark started the downhill. He was no Conservative, too much of a Red Tory.

I get it he appealed to you, just Liberal enough that Liberals would
approve of his policies. You complained that Republicans and Democrats
cannot work together, but don't / can't / won't understand the mechanics behind it.

The Right fielding a candidate the Left would agree with has been a very bad idea.

Watching lefties comment on the Republican primaries was hilarious,
and Bart was proved absolutely right, with Republicans selecting
a candidate that they wanted, not what the lefties wanted.

Joe Clark was this kind of PC, and he got burned for it.

The Right in Canada has been screwed for 60 years, the last decent
Conservative was Diefenbaker. A very long time ago.

edit: and I don't think O'Leary is the guy to turn it around either.

It's maybe nice to think of a Canadian Trump, but it doesn't pass the smell test.

See?
None of these posters are conservatives, conservatives are 'too left' for their liking. Now don't mention names of politics that are to the right of conservatives with populism built in or you'll hear worse whining and denial than if you said 'global warming'.....

Arlene Dickinson was on CBC, not a fan of O'Leary! At least not as a politician.

She did not mince words!

As for Kevin O'leary becoming leader of the Conservative party, there's a better chance of me winning the Michigan State lottery than that ever happening. We as Canadians don't seem to ascribe like Americans to the cult of celebrity so chances of O'leary getting elected based on being semi famous is between slim and nil. All people will have to do is watch him on Dragons Den to see what an arrogant, dismissive, asshole he really is which, will sink his chances faster than a teflon turd down a greased commode and anyone using "Kevin O'leary = Donald Tump" formula for picking the Conservative Party leadership winner is either an idiot or delusional.

Besides, here in Canada we're much more likely to elect our politicians based on their nice hair than whether they can actually run the country or not.

I'd disagree just because I've had to witness liberal Canadians doing their endless sickening god-worship of Pierre Trudeau for my entire adult life. It's like 1968 was their Year Zero began and everything that resulted underneath him was the height of awesomeness.

Canadians = no better than anyone anywhere else.

I didn't say we were better I said we were different. Besides, PET was a career politician and not a celebrity till he was picked by Pearson to be one of the 3 wise men from Quebec. Then the cult of personality started kicking in.

O'Leary's position on the military and veterans is disturbing. I can't vote for this man when my ballot shows up. He's a loud-mouthed braggart with no substance. The way it looks right now, I'm going with Kellie Leitch. Unless Peter MacKay jumps in......but he won't.
