Sorry for the title mixup (Hyack, help me out here?)

Either way, all of those students really need to ask themselves why they felt compelled to riot over the dismissal of somone who shirked his duty both as a person in authority to protect people and his duty as a human being. To know about a person who is sexually assaulting young boys and not either call the cops or stomp his head in is an abdication of his duty as human being.

Pantero is lucky he isn't facing charges for accessory after the fact.

Wow, a completely illogical reaction. Then again few riots are based on logic.

The whole episode is another sad reminder that the entire business of college sports in the US resembles an open sewer more and more with each passing scandal

Yes but it's too big a beast to slay. If something like this can only result in a couple of firings then college football is pretty much bullet proof.

Hope you don't mind the edit. [B-o]

This Penn State thing sickens me. A child molester is covered for by the school administration and then those people and Paterno are supposed to catch a break because they're good for the football team?

WTF?

The kids protesting this utterly befuddle me with their abject lack of perspective and of morality. I guess in their world child molesters are okay so long as they can help deliver a winning team.

The amorality of an increasing number of sports fans is getting absolutely ridiculous. If it's one of "Our Boys" at the center of a scandal almost all of them turn away. Or start making excuses for it. Increasingly strange and/or stupid behaviour on the part of too many fans is one of the main reasons that I've been paying less and less attention to sports over the last decade or so. I just don't want to be associated with that kind of thing anymore. Or, even worse, find myself sticking up for one of the local "heroes" when he gets caught doing something awful.

PS: Thx for the rep points BTW. Bazinga? Been watching Sheldon on Big Bang Theory or something? 8)

I love that show! And you earned both the rep and the 'bazinga!' for having nailed it with your comment.

If Paterno has to go what about all the others involved in this debacle. If you read the timeline and the incidents that happened you'd be amazed at the incompetence and don't give a fuck attitude displayed by just about every official in the School and State.

You people can read it yourselves and decide if Paterno is one of the two guilty of not doing his the "right thing" or if he's just being used as a meat shield for every other high ranking official that were involved in this case.

These students may actually be on to something.

Paterno should be the first but not the last. The guy was a leader and he failed to protect the youth he was responsible for. Full stop.

He deserves what he gets and the anger by the pathetic retards that are up in arms over his firing... wow.

Fuck them with a capital F.

He was responsible for the Football team and program.

It was the alleged pervert Sandusky's charitable foundation that was the source of recruitment for these kids and just because Sandusky worked for Paterno doesn't mean that Paterno was ultimately responsible.

If that was the case, it'd be the same as saying the Minister of National Defense and the CDS were responsible for Colonel Williams acts.

Either way there are alot of people willing to throw him to the wolves just to make sure they're failings aren't brought to light.

Now they're reporting that there may have been a lot more cover-ups, regarding sexual assaults committed by PSU football players. This story sounds like it's gonna get a lot uglier yet.
