This is one of the Scheer Conservative's major fuck-ups in the election, IMO, in that they did noting to address the out of control taxation in this country. They should have run amok with this and beat the living hell out of the Libs with it. That it's not a major issue all across this besotted nation is absolutely baffling. Typically fucking oblivious in the usual Canadian manner, of course, but still baffling that apparently no one takes it more seriously.

WTH are you talking about? All Scheer did was tell Canadians that he'd cut taxes and save people money and all the rest. Taxes are not a factor nationally because everyone pays WAY more than Albertans do (see image above), and while most probably don't like it, they see the reality in paying for hospitals, schools, road, etc.

The reason he lost the election is that his platform was designed to do very well in the Prairies and poorly nationally, and it was borne out by the fact that the CPC got fewer votes in Quebec and the Maritimes combined than they did in Alberta.

If Scheer lost it was because he sidelined Doug Ford in Ontario because he was scared that Ford was a liability. He might not have been because even if Ford is hated in Metro Toronto he's still got a half-decent approval rating in suburban Toronto and the rest of the area. The Cons wouldn't have won the lefty ridings anyway but not using Ford to their advantage in other places was really dumb, just like Clinton not using Obama enough in the 2016 US election. Scheer based too much of their Ontario strategy on what outfits like the Toronto Star were saying and it was a major mistake.

As for anything the Cons might have contributed on taxes and spending it got buried in the national press by thinks like Prime Minister Blackface and the wonderful world of Saint Greta Thunberg.

Doug Ford is not popular in any Toronto suburbs that’s for sure, he’s more unpopular than wynne and he’s barely been in office a year.

He never had a groundswell of support, he became party leader in clown car leadership race where the vote was split a hundred different ways and practically by fluke he ended up with a plurality but not a majority of the leadership vote. Even in the conservative ridings I think he’s just tolerated or gets the people who always support “[Insert Conservative leader name here]”

Just like the Budget was finalized back in September, Jason Kenney didn't reveal it till after the federal election so it didn't reflect badly on Andrew Scheer; he also didn't reveal this wage cut for workers who haven't had a raise in 9 years in his budget.

yeah sucks to have a job...my family has faced three layoffs (in reality, that means fired without cause..no such thing as layoffs in the oil patch) in the past 24 months. So go cry yourself asleep on your wee pillow..cause I just don't care that you as gov employee haven't gotten a raise..

But I know quite a few, and they have families too. Isn't the excuse for high executive pay "we need to pay well to attract the best talent?"

Your own misfortune doesn’t justify deliberately bringing misfortune on others. The solution to increasing unemployment and stagnant wages is never to lay off more people and freeze more wages.
