No thank you. Cannibalism is illegal for as far as I know.

Not sure eating placenta would be classed as cannibalism, unless chewing your finger nails is too.

You consider a placenta to be the same as a finger nail?

I take it every time you clip them, you bury them? Or do put them in the human waste bin at the hospital?

I put this story forward in a class last night and the Chinese didn't think it was at all unusual...a little old fashioned, but not all that strange.

I wouldn't be surprsied if there re benefits actually. Nature rarely wastes anything, and given that mammals regularly ingest their placenta, there might be something to it. Or maybe they just eat it because they're hungry, Be interesting to find out. And the idea of dehydrating the placenta and putting it in capsules kind of takes the gross factor out. A bit.

My wiccan friend buried the placenta's of all of her 3 kids and planted a tree on each of them. She told me the idea behind it is a long and happy life. Tree of life fertilized by the placenta.

Lacking hands and shovels to bury it, animals eat it to a) so they don't wave a red flag to predators b) so it's not rotting in their den.
Both more likely than "knowing" it's nutritious and unlike humans they're lacking a pantry full of shallots, garlic and pepper to pretend it tastes good.
Haggis, tripe and those sea urchin sushis are probably good for you too, but 90% of people would prefer starving to death over eating any.

Yet many do, and we don't have breathless news articles about them.
