peck420 peck420: I didn't like him, I didn't like his party.
But, that man was a fighter. He is a loss to Canada.
RIP Mr. Layton. He saved Canada from the Bloc..

I'm not surprised this happened, but am surprised at how fast it happened. It's a sad day for Canadians. On a personal level I'm surprised by how affected I was by the news, considering I've never been a fan of him or his policies.

Wow, he went quick. I knew he had some serious problems with two cancers but I didn't think he was quite that bad.
RIP Jack.

Man, I certainly don't know what to say...... Jack Layton, regardless of other's views on his political beliefs, was simply an inspiration for what a human being should be, both in spirit, attitude & determination.
He certainly inspired me..... and very..... very few people do that.
He's apparently also getting a State Funeral & I think he certainly deserves it. He did a lot for Canadians during his time in politics, in fact throughout his life.
I don't usually get affected by the passing of people, especially politicians, but I find myself actually feeling a loss over this, even though I'm halfway around the world in Australia.
To be honest, he was the one person, the only politician, who actually got me interested in politics and what was going on in the country & our government..... and got me to actually give a damn & start voting..... and after all the accomplishments he has made while leading the NDP, he's now gone.
It's a real kick in the nutz, that's all there is to it.

Brenda Brenda: $1: And finally, to all Canadians: Canada is a great country, one of the hopes of the world. We can be a better one – a country of greater equality, justice, and opportunity. We can build a prosperous economy and a society that shares its benefits more fairly. We can look after our seniors. We can offer better futures for our children. We can do our part to save the world’s environment. We can restore our good name in the world. We can do all of these things because we finally have a party system at the national level where there are real choices; where your vote matters; where working for change can actually bring about change. In the months and years to come, New Democrats will put a compelling new alternative to you. My colleagues in our party are an impressive, committed team. Give them a careful hearing; consider the alternatives; and consider that we can be a better, fairer, more equal country by working together. Don’t let them tell you it can’t be done.
My friends, love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we’ll change the world. All my very best, Jack Layton

Curtman Curtman: It's nice to see someone have fun in politics. He did. Agreed. More politicians could learn from him in that respect. There is always room for a little humour.

Brenda Brenda: $1: You decided that the way to replace Canada’s Conservative federal government with something better was by working together in partnership with progressive-minded Canadians across the country. I find it hard to believe he wrote this. Would you seriously want your final words to be remembered as a partisan attack on the government? Then again once a politician...Anyway RIP Mr. Layton
