Ground penetrating sonar/radar has been around since the mid-1970's, and has been in commercial use as early as 1992. I'm not buying the 'It's Harper's fault' crap. Give that dead horse a rest.
Now, tell me the real reason why this hasn't been done before now.

Because money hasn’t been released. Doesn’t matter who was in office as there’s always a little pissant who decides that they are ruler of their little fiefdom and that it’s a personal affront to spend the money without more paperwork and hoops than is possible to fill out without three lifetimes and 37 degrees. Government is very good at making promises that are very hard to actually get full filled. It makes them sound and feel better while doing absolutely nothing!!
Also if you watch a British show called Time Team. You will see from series one to the last one a huge difference in ground penetrating radar over time. It used to be weird blobs by the end they were showing graves with a good accuracy. That show ended a few years ago but I’m sure it has only gotten better.
So it hasn’t been done before now because the government really didn’t ever want it to be done. They don’t want the majority of the country to know that what was being said was true. Think how that would look and what would the neighbours say?
