Orthorexia is becoming a more widely recognized eating disorder and the people who insist on eating gluten free when it's not needed are examples of people suffering from orthorexia.

Gluten intolerance is largely a myth.

When you're in the gluten free section turn your hat backwards, pull out an item and say in a loud voice "Look Betty-Sue, it's glutton free! We can eat as much as we want."

In the produce section, hold a Bible under your arm. When the mister comes on turn to others and say "Lettuce Spray..."

My little sister was celiac back in the 1960s. Poor kid had to live thru the worst birthday cakes and cookies ever and to make tings worse, grandparents were Italian!
My Mom & another sister developed it later. What a difference today. We just shopped at Costco for a celiac friend, brought back burger patties, buns that actually tasted good, all kinds of stuff.
Last time I visited my sister her husband and I got shit for eating all the gluten free cookies she baked... we had no idea, they were so damn good

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:
Gluten intolerance is largely a myth.

I used to think so too, but a few years ago my now wife tried a gluten free diet due as she would often inexplicably have an unsettled stomach and gas after eating. She's not one for chasing diet fads or the inconvenience of expensive specialty foods but it made such a difference she's been gluten free ever since. Sometimes when we're traveling or visiting people she gets stuck eating gluten and the effect is noticeable.

Myself and my daughter are the same. After eating gluten, especially breads or pizza, my face turns read and my stomach is upset for a good 8 hours afterwards. My daughter is much the same.

I've been tested for celiac, the proper test via a biopsy and I don't have it.

Granted, having some wicked explosive farts after a few slices of pizza can be quite entertaining.

Not that I know of, but she doesn't believe she is, even though her nephew is.

It's a PITA to test for, took several tries to confirm it on a couple people I know. Both my Mom and older sister it showed up when they were in their late 40s.
My daughter has Crohns, tested negative for celiac but eats mainly gluten free as she says she feels better, I bet she's really celiac too with so many others in the family.

Either way, glad she found a way to not feel like crap. R=UP

Speaking of glutinous masses, I'm chowing down on a store-bought muffin that's so gucky it tastes like they used Elmer's Wood Glue instead of butter, yet st the same time crumbles and disintegrates with every bite into a 3mm layer covering the kitchen floor.
Just amazing how they can combine the worst of both worlds in many products.
