Tricks Tricks: stemmer stemmer: 2006 Corvette vs 2009 Nissan GT-R Corvette Price $65,800 Fuel Mileage: 16/26 mpg Engine : Horsepower: 505 bhp @ 6300 rpm Weight: 3132 lbs 0-60 mph: 3.7 sec 0-100 mph: 7.9 sec ¼ mile: 11.5 sec @ 127 mph Top Speed: 198 mph Lateral acceleration: 1.02g Nissan Price: $69,850 Fuel Mileage: Unavailable Engine : 480 bhp @ 6400 Weight: 3960 lbs 0-60 mph: 3.4 sec 0-100 mph: Unavailable ¼ mile: 11.8 sec @ --- mph Top Speed: 193 mph Lateral acceleration: 1.01g Source of stats : http://www.fast-autos.net/compare/?a=339&b=1750I must admit they are petty close but the Z06 is a 2006 and I understand the new Corvette ZR1 trumps the Vette Z06... Bahaha. It's also been reported by more than one magazine that Nissan has probably low balled the specs. Plus, on the top gear test track, it placed 12 places higher than the Vette. Thanks for coming out. As I said that's comparing a 2006 Vette Z06 against the GT-R. How about the new ZR1. It's specs aren't out yet... Or how about a Callaway Corvette, Lingenfelter Corvette, Saleen Mustang or Hennessey Viper? Take a peek at my gallery http://kenmo.zenfolio.com It's mostly photos of cars... I hang around car enthusiasts, most of my friends are mechanics or car buffs, I do most of the work on my cars myself... In the summer I spend most of my time at car shows... Car shows were everything from hot rods, rat rods, streetrods, classics, vintage, antiques, Jags, Corvettes, compact sports, Hondas, old muscle cars, new muscle cars, exotics, monster trucks, kit cars, motorbikes can be seen... I spoke with the BMW crowd one year at the Spring Garden Cruise-In. They road race their street cars on a road circuit at AMP (Atlantic Motorsport Park in Shubenacadie). I asked them what was the fastest car on the road course. The told me it was a Viper by far. The second was a Ferrari... I'm NOT saying I'm smarter then anyone else here...BUT one thing I do know is cars... Ever change your own spark plugs, replace a starter, alternator, distributor, ever have an engine block turn down or a transmission a part?

Thanks for coming out. You're right (and ignore is AFTER market tuner spec Vettes too.). In fact, The GT-R (with AWD and Motor Trend's Car of the Year) is one of the fastest laps at the Nurburing (the quickest still belongs to a Posche996) and wait till the GT-R Spec V arrives. Oh...and while we're at it - C/D's Top 10 this year included only 2 domestics and the rest were German, Japanese and the Jaguar XF.

Correct.. domestic 'vettes have not yet learned about high speed cornering. GM will one day discover the art of suspension without leaf springs.

stemmer stemmer: As I said that's comparing a 2006 Vette Z06 against the GT-R. How about the new ZR1. It's specs aren't out yet... Or how about a Callaway Corvette, Lingenfelter Corvette, Saleen Mustang or Hennessey Viper? You are comparing after market customized cars to a stock production car now? My god you are terrible at this. How about we take a 1000 horsepower skyline against those cars? Wait till Nismo gets a hold of the GTR, if they haven't already. I guarantee you a Nismo GTR will spank every car you just listed. Also, the ZR1 is being projected to cost 100 grand. You listed the gtr earlier at 70. That's almost 50 % increase. Sink 30 grand into a GTR, and it will do just fine. $1: Take a peek at my gallery http://kenmo.zenfolio.com It's mostly photos of cars... Yet you make the worst arguments when it comes to cars. I learned from my brother who knows more about cars than anyone I've ever met. My Dad is a car enthusiast and took me to an RM auction in Florida on Amelia island. $1: I spoke with the BMW crowd one year at the Spring Garden Cruise-In. Why does that sound like a bunch of middle aged guys driving to the parking lot of a canadian tire opening their hoods and standing around? Try going to CSCS event. $1: The told me it was a Viper by far. The second was a Ferrari... ROTFL Viper? A corvette can spank a viper. I've seen videos of Civics beating out vipers. (after market of course) $1: Ever change your own spark plugs, replace a starter, alternator, distributor, ever have an engine block turn down or a transmission a part? I've done enough with cars to have a basic knowledge. Taking apart a car doesn't make you knowledgeable of what makes a car decent. Or give you any expertise on a cars performance. It makes you a mechanic.

Robair Robair: commanderkai commanderkai: Well, if we're going to compare cars, mine is by far the most awesome I wish I had a picture of mine on the computer, but this baby is just awesome. The thing feels like you're sailing on the ocean rather than driving on a road. And yeah, it wasn't mine originally, it was my late grandfather's, which makes the car priceless to me. Hell, it feels rather eerie sitting in the same chair my grandfather did until he died (basically). You need "pimpin ain't easy" painted on the trunk lid, or back window... ...and tint the windows. My grandfather would haunt me in his grave. No way, plus the interior is this really plush red cloth But yeah, it's an awesome car, I call it the tank on wheels, my dad calls it a boat, my sister wants it to pimp it out (my fucking ass she will, that's why she has my dad's Shelby Charger, because any modifications on that will require my dad's permission, which will be an instant no)

Tricks Tricks: *shudder* Kia... I don't intend on buying a car if I can't buy a decent car. I'll want to get something more like this: My fave of the bunch (that I'd ever be able to afford). A MKIV would be even better, but all the ones I've ever seen for sale have been fucking wrecked by modders. Disgusting gaudy body kits, ugly wheels, screwing around under the hood, putting so many extra gauges around the cabin you'd think you were in a 747, ridiculous sound systems, etc. It's almost impossible to find one even approaching stock.

Yeah, I'd prefer an MKIV as well. But as a first car, it's not really practical cause they cost 30 grand, even used. I wouldn't mind some mods under the hood and a sound system, as long as they didn't ruin it. Body kits and ugly wheels are annoying.

Consider a JDM car and you could get that Supra for a whole lot less than thirty grand. Of course, you'd have to get used to right hand drive.

My neighbor has an 89 Supra sitting in his driveway, it's a little rough but it is one worth saving. There is also a women in my community who has aa 1989 completely restored with the 3 Liter Turbo....automatic though My highschool buddy owned a 1988 turbo I remember the day we picked it up, white with a Targa roof and tan leather interior, his mother had died and left him a wad of cash. She told him to buy himself a nice new car before she died.

A friend of his also had a skyline that was imported from japan, car was awesome. EDIT: I guess stemmer has decided to fuck off.
