As far as British sportscars & roadster, I've always loved the Austin Healey 3000's and Jaguars of any year...

There's a bloke in Halifax who put a Ford 302 into his Healey... I'd love to have a 1959 MGA with a Chevy 350 under the hood... Isn't that what Shelby did with the AC Bristol....???? :D :D :D

poquas poquas:
stemmer stemmer:
Sorry the early 60's MGA did not have much in the way of hp and they did not handle all that well... A 1963-67 small block Corvette would lose a 1960's MGA or Porsche on the twistys as would a 302 Z28 Camaro... Look up who was winning the SCCA Trans-Am series in the 1960's...

Are you kidding me???

I'm referring to the "off the lot" type of vehicle, not a race car. An off the lot Corvette was much like all the other NA vehicles of the time. Unmodified, cornering was not their forte.

Like your comparison of today’s depreciation to a Barrett-Jackson auction vehicle, take that same departure in logic to compare what I mentioned to modified race vehicles…

Sorry but not true... A 1963 Corvette was one of the best handling cars of it's time. Only a Ferrari of that era would pass it on the curves....

As far as a race car, I guess you weren't familiar with the 1960's SCCA Trans-Am series. Those cars were closer to stock then a full blown race car...

"Race car" is a palindrome. So is "A Toyota! Race fast... safe car: a Toyota".

It appears neither one of you know anything about the SCCA's Trans-Am road racing series of the 1960's....The only modifications were perhaps the addition of a rollbar and some racing tires...

Read how many a Shelby GT350H was rented from Hertz to appear in a Sunday Trans-Am series. Upon inspection back at Hertz it was often found under the rear carpets where the person who rented the car drilled some holes to attach a roll bar...

$1:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shelby_Mustang

Early "Hertz" cars were available with four-speed manual transmissions until so many cars were returned from rental with burned and broken clutch assemblies that all of the later cars shipped to Hertz were equipped with an automatic transmission.[citation needed] Many were rented to use as production class cars at SCCA events, some were returned with different engines, holes where roll bars had been welded in, and other modifications to legally run on the track.

If you could get hold of an address list of people gullible enough to actually believe that story, you'd have a door-to-door saleman's wet dream in your hands.

Stemmer will say absolutely anything to try and convince someone he has a clue about anything he says.

This is a quote about the Shelby “RACE CAR” used in the ’67 race.

$1:
These cars were to be raced in the year old SCCA A Sedan and Trans Am race series. The rules for these cars were based on the FIA Appendix J, which meant 4 place sedans with all the interior and glass intact, but with race motors and brakes and wheels and tires.

What? That in the 1960's there was a series of auto road races involving production cars named the Trans-Am series sponsored by the SCCA (Sportscar Club of America) that involved sportscars & gt type cars? After all that was the real reason behind me posting the link and not for you to dispute rental cars were raced but to qualify that the Trans-Am series was about production cars that were raced...

Now you're quoting sales ads...!!!! It's quite obvious you've never heard of the SCCA or the Trans-Am road racing series of the 1960's & 70's and now you're clutching at straws to save face.... :( :( :(

Stemmer. You're an idiot.

The quote refers to the 1967 Car #23 SCCA Trans Am race series.

It certainly appears to be! Asked a specific question and poof! You’re gone. You make a claim, no matter how ridiculous, and poof! You take a left turn and change the subject.

What ad? IF? Don't start dancing now. Refer to the rules, specifically FIA Appendix J. They're posted for every year the race was run in the 60's and 70's.

You claimed stock. I claim you are wrong.

A question arose last night, as we were walking to GM Place to see a show, it was What will GM Place be called now?....

All I could come up with was something like "Taxpayers Bendover Place"...."What? you didnt see this coming Place"...."Granola Munchers Place"....

Anyone else got anything...we will need a new name.
