PluggyRug PluggyRug:
What's an ax?

A tool that has a heavy metal blade and a long handle that is used for chopping wood...or glass.

That's an axe, I axed you what an ax is. :P

While either spelling is perfectly "axceptable", and word-processing spellcheck is what it is, "axe" gets a red underline while "ax" does not.

That's because your spell checker is US English. You give me grief for using US spelling (which I prefer) so live by the sword die by the sword.

Fine, I'll change it then. I normally spell it "axe".

Lemmy Lemmy:
Exactly. If we're troubled by Islamic terrorism, let's stay out of Islamic countries' affairs.

My country tried to do that at the start. The Muslims refused to leave us alone and we've been at war with those fuckers on and off ever since.

And let me quote Wiki so you're comfortable with the source...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Barbary_War

$1:
In March 1786, Thomas Jefferson and John Adams went to London to negotiate with Tripoli's envoy, ambassador Sidi Haji Abdrahaman (or Sidi Haji Abdul Rahman Adja). When they enquired "concerning the ground of the pretensions to make war upon nations who had done them no injury", the ambassador replied:

"It was written in their Koran, that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every mussulman who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to paradise. He said, also, that the man who was the first to board a vessel had one slave over and above his share, and that when they sprang to the deck of an enemy's ship, every sailor held a dagger in each hand and a third in his mouth; which usually struck such terror into the foe that they cried out for quarter at once."

When Jefferson became President he'd had enough of the US being extorted by these motherfuckers and when he refused to pay they declared war on the United States.

They got their asses kicked and then we had to go back again in 1815 and kick their asses yet again.

My point is that they started it and they started it because their filthy, evil, mentally deranged 'prophet' commands that they attack and subjugate everyone who doesn't bow to that pig god in Mecca.

Now they're back on the warpath and with over two million of them invading Europe this year they'll attack. I say that with confidence because it's what they do. They can't help themselves.

And when Canadian and American soldiers end up dying and bleeding in the same places in Europe where their ancestors before them died and bled for freedom then maybe we'll find the will to march on Mecca and rip down that whorehouse of a temple and then cast every last piece of it into the deepest ocean and then bury it where it will never curse civilized people ever again.

And the Barbary pirates were, likewise, acting out of necessity and opportunity, not out of religion. If they'd been Christians or Buddhists they'd still have robbed your ships. But if you think 200 year old piracy incidents justify your hatred, have at it. It's as valid an excuse as any of yours.

WTF is it with you damned leftists that you can't ever believe the Muslims when they say they do these things in the name of their religion? Are you calling them all liars????

I'm a libertarian. I'm well to the right of you. I call you leftist, Lefty. And no, they're not liars. They're fools who've been sold a bill of goods by their recruiters. Likewise, Stalin was no communist, though he talked a lot of uneducated peons into fighting under communism's banner.

Seriously, I know you're a bigot but you're smart enough to comprehend this stuff.

Nope. The hatred makes him stupid. He went over there to fight them, they dared to fight back, now he hates all Muslims.

That's fucking rich bart. At the time, Your nation was kidnapping Africans to work in your slave plantations and you're trying to play the victim over some trade tariffs?

And how many nations throughout history were on the receiving end of American gunboat diplomacy?

Wrong.

They were sold by African and Arab slavers.

No Americans went in to the bush to 'kidnap' anyone.

Bart, you have to be careful arguing with any of these idiots who know
absolutely zero history.

Seeing as everyone here seems to be fixated on technicalities, the Berbers weren't ever enslaved....they were in fact slavers with long established markets that traded in European and African merchandise. Like the Pashtuns of Afghanistan they have phenotypes that range from swarthy to Nordic in appearance.

Extortion and kidnap for ransom are just trade tariffs to you?
