Canada ranks 5th in the study of prevental deaths among industrialized countries.

Things to remember.

The US stats are so low due to the sheer number of uninsured Americans who basically have no access to healthcare beyond legally mandated ER care.

Thus the study is more biased towards accessability Vs quality. All the countries at the top have universally accessible healthcare as its cornerstone philiosophy.

Yahoo Video of ABC news bite about the study

Last sentence was interesting:

$1:
Had the United States performed as well as any of the top three industrialized countries, there would have been 101,000 fewer deaths per year, the researchers said.

The anti-capitalists here love to throw stones at the Soviets and Chinese for murdering their peope by depriving them of food. But a hundred thousand preventable deaths per year over the ten years since the first study adds up to a million murders by the USA against it's citizens by depriving them of health care.

Your ascertation that the US is depriving their people of health care is somewhat skewed. The US isn't really depriving them of health care, it's using a flawed system that bases the amount and quality of health care on financial ability.

To equate your statement about murdering millions in the same sentence as poor health care is pure left wing rhetoric. Since you seem to feel that any country that doesn't provide adequate health care because of political agenda is a murderer, why don't you make the same case for North Korea?

Absent the 15-30 million illegal aliens in the USA who contribute to those stats we'd be doing much, much better.

I love how the abc clip utterly lies to you.

The French and Japanese came out on top, not Australia, Austria and Canada. We were respectuflly 3rd, 4th and 5th...

Yes and no, Bart. There are still plenty of legals who don't have access.

$1:
The French health care system
combines universal coverage
with a public–private mix of hospital
and ambulatory care, higher
levels of resources
