Yeah I didn't read it thoroughly. I agree Fort Mac is worst natural disaster. Im not sure how classification works if it is found to be started by people but assuming it is natural. I agree.

Who knows if it was started by people or by nature? Fires are a natural part of the landscape. The Lodgepole Pine con tells us that.

Ok so if it was started by people it is still classified as a natural disaster? I really dont know. I realize it is a natural part of the growth cycle of the Boreal forest.

I'm saying that you can't easily sort out the cause. The nature of forest fires is that if man doesn't start one, the detritous builds up until nature starts an even bigger one. If there was obvious arson, some sonofabitch glugging accelerant on the ground and tossing in a match, it is a major crime.

Part of the problem has been humanity's interference with the natural burn cycles. So much deadfall and detritus builds up that what could have or should have been a smaller fire becomes explosive.

Notley's critics including myself have to admit she's conducted herself like a real leader during this crisis unlike Trudeau.

The real leader in all this is the mayor of YMM, she impressed the hell out of me today at the press gathering. Rachel was studdering, humming and hawing though her prepared speech, then the Mayor got up there and just let loose with no notes what so ever and im sure she didnt miss anybody she was wanting to thank. Rachel lost me when she said something like i cant believe we saved all those people during the evacuation.

Suncor left their herd of 315 buffalo in their pasture, they haauled in all the hay they had and are hoping for tne best while everyone went home. They should be safe from fire but the smoke has to be a bitch for them.

Compared to Trudeau Notley has stood up but yes the Mayor took a page out of Giuliani's playbook in the aftermath of 9/11.

Don't know if people have seen this but, it's an interesting take on Fort Mac and pretty much accurate.

Looks like lefties aren't the only ones using the disaster to promote their own BS on the internet.

It's different, unlike the Left who have used this tragedy to promote climate change and other agendas he was countering the Left's bias view that was against Ft Mac and everyone who lived there.

No, it's not...and even it it was different, two wrongs don't make a right.

He's sitting there pontificating about "leftist service-industry dominated shitholes" and saying only right wingers like himself have safety training and can take care of themselves in a crisis.

That's just a lazy ass generalization and not anywhere accurate.

There are lots of people who have taken safety training and can take care of themselves in a crisis, regardless of their political orientation.

Fine, let's light up the most diversified SJW part of Toronto and watch what happens.

Taking care of yourself is only one aspect of things.

Hopefully one thing that can come out of this, is a decision to manage the forests in a better way, and the SJWs will shut up and go sit in the corner.
This green / leftie / can't touch anything in the woods nonsense has got to stop.

Funny you should mention Toronto - I don't recall Toronto burning to the ground, looting or a massive death toll during the 2003 blackout, nor do I recall anything similar in the 1998 ice storm in Quebec and the Maritimes.

In both cases, there were plenty of news casts highlighting stories of people helping each other out by sharing food, directing traffic, rescuing each other, etc.

Watching out for each other is something all Canadians believe, regardless of their political beliefs.

Which is what I said to begin with. It's from the master-your-emotions keep-calm & carry-on effect of British and European civilization which we have deep in our bones. And no amount of government fuckery or mass immigration is ever going to eliminate it. Be proud of who you are and of where your people came from.

3 reasons why the Martin Mars water bomber isn't battling fire in Fort McMurray

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/martin-mars-water-bomber-fort-mcmuray-1.3571558

___________
$1:
Plane retired in 2013

The province ended its contract with the Coulson Group in 2013 to use the air tanker, opting to move to smaller aircraft more suitable to B.C.'s mountainous terrain, although it was used for one month in 2015 to fight wildfires in B.C.

The massive air tanker was built as a transport plane for the U.S. Navy in 1946 and is the largest fixed-wing water bomber in the world, with a capacity of more than 27,000 litres.

________

The plane was retired but it still could have contributed and Wayne Coulson and his crew were on standby but never received a request from the Alberta Government. The water bomber possibly could have made a difference but the fact a request wasn't even made is bad as Trudeau turning down Russia's offer of water bombers because even though Ft Mac has been saved the beast is still out of control and could shift direction back to Ft Mac or other towns.

Considering the way the Eco Left has demonized Ft Mac and everyone who lived, worked there his anger is justified.
