Cheese doesn't have to lift weights to be called strong.

DrCaleb DrCaleb: To my recollection, those two last world record yoke walks of 500+ kg made him the strongest. I suppose it depends on how 'strongest' is measured. Anyone who's claimed he's the strongest guy in the world because of a 550kg yoke walk (which isn't even a record for heaviest, it was only over 10 m that it was a record) is a fucking idiot. Both Brian Shaw and Hafthor have done 710 kg yoke walks. And a whole bunch have done 590 kg. If you go by raw total, i.e. bench, squat, deadlift, he ranks in at 2059.

xerxes xerxes: The current strongest man champion is Martin Licis. Who dethroned The Mountain who had won the title the previous few years. Or you go by the actual competition, in which case, it's this guy.

DrCaleb DrCaleb: uwish uwish: you simply cannot get enough nutrients on a vengan diet, and it is significantly more complicated and dangerious when young people try it. Wrong. Many people worldwide are vegan, and live perfectly normal lives from birth to old age. The kid didn't die because his parents are vegan, he died because they only fed him breast milk for 18 months. Or did you just read the clickbait title and assume you knew the whole story? True but if the mother isn’t getting the right minerals and vitamins in her diet the breast milk will be detrimental to growth and development of the baby. With out the right nutrition you can actually cause a huge number of health problems. From the article it doesn’t sound like the parents knew what they were doing.

herbie herbie: Tried to convince my vegan daughter that dairy and honey production don't do harm to animals. She was convinced they tortured the milk from cows, Alberta cousins with dairy farm always told me the more you pamper them, the better your milk production. Of course, the very next day on the news was footage of a BC diary farm abusing cows.... Same here. My granddaughter describes eggs as chicken periods. Before that came along eggs were one of the few good things she ate. Sometimes I wish the internet was restricted!

In fairness this story is about batshit crazy people who abused their children and it has no more to do with being vegan than it does with the price of tea in China.

To think we had a hobby farm (pigs, chickens) when mine was a kid and her brother and her used to giggle at dinner "We're eating Barney's ass!" Now she eats a healthy diet of chemical brew No need to worry with a tin of Hurry Curry, poisoned especially for you!

Hafthor has a total of 2425 pounds. 970 pound squat, 551 pound bench, 903 pound deadlift. And he's not even the highest total in the world.

DrCaleb DrCaleb: What's a pound? Hafthor is also someone considering giving the vegan diet a try. Nothing wrong with that at all, but the issue comes with them extolling it as better, when it isn't. If you get proper nutrition from both, there is no functional difference on the human body. Just like the carnivore diet isn't better, and people who try to say it is are stupid.

Tricks Tricks: Nothing wrong with that at all, but the issue comes with them extolling it as better, when it isn't. Except, that for athletes, it is a better diet. https://science.sciencemag.org/content/362/6416/781More energy, longer endurance, less recovery time, - everything an Athlete needs. Roman Gladiators were vegetarian, for example. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2 ... 090006.htmEveryone believes the wives tale that eating meat gives you energy. But the 18th century 'doctor' who postulated that idea had no basis for it, and when it was proven that energy comes from carbs which comes from plants, somehow that old saw stuck around. Tricks Tricks: If you get proper nutrition from both, there is no functional difference on the human body. Just like the carnivore diet isn't better, and people who try to say it is are stupid. There is a difference. Milk contains estrogen. Soy contains phytoestrogen which blocks estrogen absorption. Meat contains compounds that can restrict the epithelial system and constrict blood flow. Vitamin C only comes from plants. There are many other compounds found in meat that are not good for us. Heme Iron for example is linked to colorectal cancer, and only comes from eating meat. The only thing we can get neither from plants or animals is vitamin B12, and we used to get that from bacteria in the soil we'd accidentally eat along with plants, or water sources. But modern farming has all but wiped that bacteria out of the soil and water. There is nothing we can get from meat that we can't get from plants, and there are many things we get from meat that we don't need and are potentially bad for us.On the flip side, there are many things we get from plants that we can't get from meat. 'Proper nutrition ' that requires meat in the diet is a fallacy.

Yea they really play him up in that Netflix doc but he's nowhere near strongest in the world. Oops, this thread has a page 2. I was responding to the end of page 1

There's an old fella named Bill Pearl who is a body-building vegan. No less an authority than Arnold Schwarzenegger called him one of the best of all time, and he did it without any of the proteins that come from meat. So there's an argument to be made that healthy strength development is more than possible for vegetarians.
That being said the healthy adult examples like Bill Pearl also aren't idiots like the two dumbfuck parents in the article are. If someone is going to do the vegan life correctly, for their children as well as themselves, they can't be badly informed halfwits. That alone is the path to disaster, especially for the kids. If they never took their kid to the doctor, ever, then that also indicates that they're probably also a pair of tard-ville conspiracy types, educated at the Internet University. Case closed, and just another example of how online stupidity cost an innocent their life.
