Here's hoping that the regular US military personnel are disciplined and under enough control by their officers to prevent them from doing something naughty. It could get messy if they turn out to be as eager as the militias and MAGAs are to see what happens when someone empties the rounds from a heavy machine gun into a packed mass of incredibly dangerous women and toddlers. Don't know why anyone would want to see that first-hand anyway when they can just ask their Saudi allies what it's like given how often they do it over their to civilians in Yemen.

Probably just another major crisis point in the ongoing American decline into existential barbarism being reached with this nonsense. This is clearly a moment where the US military has been dragged into one of the xenophobic fantasies of the extremist far-right civilians that have destroyed the American political system from within. Most likely the spiral into the abyss only accelerates when the legions become as corrupt and co-opted by the same evil ideology that's already turned the civilian government into something akin to a serial killer's fantasy.

Probably an appropriate moment to remember that convoy of American military Humvees and trucks that was videoed bombing down an interstate one day during the 2016 campaign and they were flying Trump flags from the vehicles. And on Real Time not too long ago James Clapper told Bill Maher that he had every reason to believe that a sizable portion of the forces were hard-core MAGA among the troops after a still-serving colleague at the Pentagon told him he had no way to tell which way the military would go if Trump began issuing orders that were openly contrary to the Uniform Code of Military Justice that all American personnel are sworn to uphold.

Anyone who isn't frightened now should be.

The election is next week, and the caravan won't be there for a couple months yet, well after the election. I think someone's theory needs fine tuning.

The first caravan is 900 miles away from the border.

These are the first 100 troops. As many as 15,000 may eventually arrive. This is a preliminary force dealing with setup.

Two tent cities will need to be set up. One for the immigrant horde to be processed, another for the forces needed to protect the border.

Weeks? That's a problem, is it? I'd worry more that they don't have enough time.

Also, 3 days ago they were trying to book buses to move the horde. Boo hoo, they couldn't get them. But we've seen tons of photographic evidence of them on trucks, trains and even buses at one time. Are we sure that's all stopped? 900 miles is 2 comfortable days in a vehicle.

Factor that into your "fact-gathering" and tell us again when you expect them to start trickling through.
