For a change, this was not a sarcastic post. He actually should just have called the cops...

Your tone and meaning took different paths then.

Heh :D

At first glance it would appear that our judicial system is once again punishing the victim but until I hear if he was robbed before and if so how many times, I'll hold off on passing judgement on his actions.

The farmer got what he deserves.. in fact he got off lucky. One does not fire at a fleeing suspect. Don't want your property stolen, secure it.

There ain't no law in canada that lets you pop a few off at someone running away from you after they stole your shit.

True and amazingly enough there aren't all that many countries where you can pull that off.

Personally I'm not sorry the thief got shot and hopefully it straightens his sorry ass out, but, I'd have one hell of alot more sympathy for the farmer had he offed the stunned bunny in the act instead of chasing him halfway across Alberta and then using a shotgun on him.

Which, as we all know, is just not sporting. XD

Not on private property.

Don't touch other peoples stuff, how about that?

Sure, try that out and tell me how it works out for you.

Actually, pretty well...

There is no law supporting that in The States either, although at times it seems like the system supports the law breaker more than the victim. Do you remember the Vigilante movies? Very bad movies, but it reflected the frustration in that the laws at time seems to protect the perpetrator and punish the victim.

Yeah, I get the frustration, but it's no excuse for shooting unarmed people.

Sounds like mad max to me, chased the guy got his ATV, then shot the fleeing man called his FRIENDS then chased him again, was caught and then ran away again. THEN he calls the police.

Sorry mate. First time you get your ATV, at worst maybe fire a few shots in the air to send the message to the fleeing man that you mean bussiness and never to come back and should have called the cops the minute he saw the intruder on your property, and since you managed to get your ATV back let the cops take it from there.

Instead he goes a wild man hunt with his mates, looks like billy bob and jethro were in the mood for some game, I shudder to think what would have happened if they managed to catch the intruder in the first place.

Could be the intro to one of those texas chain saw/hostel type horror movies !

From the law side the stole can be made only by a person who was realising that he or she was stealing something with the desire to choose the law destiny of the thing. Without it it is not a thief.

I know English isn't your first language ( Hey it isn't mine either )and one of the reasons why you are here is to improve it. But that was just way too wrong my friend

Anyway let me try to rephrase what you were trying to say.

The from laws side the robbery/theft can only be done by a person who realises what he was doing while fully aware of the consequences of his actions ?

Am I anywhere close ??

So that man had a good reason to shoot him. In my city we had something like that few years ago, a retired man saw a robber on his yard and killed him from one shot. He received a medal "For bravery" from cops.
