Zipperfish Zipperfish: That was hilarious. If you're taking that seriously, you need to take the pole out of your ass. And who was talking about "cerebral" British humour. Two words buddy: "Benny Hill." Shock campaigns have their place. Notably to break people out of their complacency about things the do that could immediately maim or kill themselves or others - drunk driving, speeding, workplace safety, etc. Climate change and the utterly trivial actions we can take to combat it just don't warrant this kind of ad.

If Suzuki gets wind of this idea, he'll likely explode......in his pants. They should have offered them all a wafer thin mint.

BartSimpson BartSimpson: The_Doctor The_Doctor: I don't know why most Americans don't get British humor. Most Americans find two things to be oxymorons: British humour and British cuisine. British Humour Black Adder Monty Python The Office Faulty Towers Extras American Humour Yeah, I went there. I dragged out Erkel!

I've heard it said that Canada could ahve had the best of three worlds: French cuisine, British culture and American technology. Instead we got British cuisine, American culture and French technology! British cuisine is definitely an oxymoron. But British humour is the unparalleled best!

Pseudonym Pseudonym: I kinda doubt this is a "British thing." Having a hundred or so people involved in creating an advertisement that seems to advocate the sudden death of those that agree with it seems to imply something is wrong. Who even thought this was a good idea? Reminds me of many Monty Python skits. It is just a flesh wound!!!

Simpsons, MASH, All in the Family, The Office (American version), Family Guy. Tons of great American sitcoms. The British like them short and sweet, five seasons is stretching it. The Americans drag them on a bit sometimes. Cheers, All in the Family, MASH--man, they were just painful in the end.

I don't like the drunk driving commericals, but there's no humour in those. Just dead kids, usually. At least this one is funny. But I can see your point, and maybe I just like it because I'm a tad bent. I take then you're not doing your 10%--is that so? No pressure....

I'm told that Planes Trains and Automobiles is funny, but I did not laugh once. Not once. It was just painful. But then this puts me in stitches every time. Maybe I just got set up wrong for this one...

Hogans Heroes, Gilligan's Island, The Big Bang Theory, Bugs Bunny, Flintstones, Jetsons, MADtv, Colbert report, Daily show.... If we include Canada (our humour is close enough to being the same): Kenny vs Spenny, Trailer Park Boys, Red Green Show, Corner Gas, Mercer, 22 minutes, Royal Air Farce, Little Mosque on the Prairie....

tritium tritium: muskokagirl muskokagirl: lmfao wowwww Yeah, a little over the top, but FoxNews is making a big stink about it bringing on anti-global warming talking heads. lol I mean, give me a fucking break. People are way to dam anal retentive at FoxNews. You can't really blame this bad press all on Fox. Indeed, sponsors, affiliates, and enviro-blogs have been blasting it just as relentlessly, and it's one of the reasons why they likely provided a much more sincere sounding apology today -- it really isn't a matter on "I support the environment" or not, it's the way they tried to get it across. From the NYTimes, Bill McKibben (founder of 350.org, a climate website along the lines of 10:10) said, “It’s the kind of stupidity that hurts our side, reinforcing in people’s minds a series of preconceived notions, not the least of which is that we’re out-of-control and out of touch — not to mention off the wall, and also with completely misplaced sense of humor.” His group is cutting ties. Sure, it was intended as humour, but it's not the funniest thing you'll see. I didn't laugh personally, and while a few people I know did it was more because they were told it was supposed to be funny, rather than actually finding it funny. While I'm sure a few find it funny and, trust me, I like my black humour, I have a feeling a few people are rushing in to say it's funny more out of support for AGW than anything else. That seems to be the general reaction around the 'net as well. While they were aiming for Monty Python, I think they missed it by a bit -- it doesn't have the taste of irreverence you got from those films. I just got "meh" on the funny meter watching this. Who knows, maybe I need to take it to the same place hurley is going to take his for a tune up. While some people say this was intended to happen, get controversy to get site views, etc, 10:10 is losing a lot of sizable support here, especially from big names like Sony. I doubt it'll be something quickly forgotten by future corporate sponsors, affiliates, etc.
