Scape Scape:
Lulz, not like the system is going thru an unprecedented stress test:

Twitter added 1.6M daily active users this past week, another all-time highImage

It's not traffic that will be an issue. It will be bugs. It will be patching. If I were a black hat, I'd be falling over myself trying to find every possible vulnerability I could to cripple twitter in hopes they don't have someone to fix it.

And it's not like it's been without bumps. Their MFA service was fucked. Their suspended user blocking wasn't working properly, so you could still see tweets from suspended users. And that was just the first few days.

Software like that is also not a contiguous entity. There will be billions of applets trying to service billions of people all trying to read and write to the same database all at the same time, in hundreds of native languages. Some will fail, and need someone to rewrite them.

Oh, people are going to poke the bear no doubt but Elon is doing stuff like this:

The secret history of encrypted DMs on Twitter

And bring untested alpha and beta ideas strait into production. It's like he is begging for the platform to collapse.

Its his to burn down if he wants. Of course, everyone that values or relies on twitter will hate him for his vanity tantrum.

Hate watch maybe, like gawking at a car crash on the highway. The freak show is working as the numbers are going up but the ads are gone. Elon has gone full 'My Pillow guy'.

Love how half the ads are gone since he bought it. Should be nearly ad free by next week.

I think Kneon is in cope mode. He was a HUGE Elonstan because he has a hard on for bashing the leftist and tumbler refugees on Twitter. He wants the platform to either burn to the ground or changed to be more suitable for what he calls 'normies' and is fine either way.

Never meet your heros Kneon... his feet are made of clay and the spell has worn off the advertisers that are NEVER coming back. X is vaporware in yet another string of vaporware promises by Elon and will never turn into a competitor to Google's YouTube because they actually cater to their advertisers.

Mass amnesty coming to Twitter for banned accounts as long as they didn't break the law or engage in spamming....

https://www.mediaite.com/news/amnesty-b ... reak-laws/

$1:
Elon Musk will reinstate Twitter accounts that were banned before he took over the company as long as their owners did not engage in illegal behavior or “egregious” spamming.

The billionaire Tesla and SpaceX CEO polled Twitter on Wednesday about the idea of a blanket “amnesty” for accounts that were permanently suspended under the previous regime.

“Should Twitter offer a general amnesty to suspended accounts, provided that they have not broken the law or engaged in egregious spam?” Musk asked.

After roughly 72% of 3.1 million people who answered the poll said “yes,” Musk declared the accounts will be reinstated in the coming week.

“The people have spoken,” he wrote. “Amnesty begins next week. Vox Populi, Vox Dei.” Musk’s Latin phrase translates to “the voice of the people, the voice of God.”

Misuse of the Vox Populi quote aside this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Someone shouldn't be banned just because a hypersensitive mob develops and whines to some censor at Twitter that someone else's dissenting words make them a "stochastic terrorist promoting violence" or whatever other fucking ridiculous label the hard left came up with as a weapon to silence or outright destroy any opposition to their domination of the platform. Any of the self-proclaimed anti-fascists should look in the mirror because doing things like that is something only a real fascist would do. "A trans "woman" is not a real woman"? That is just an opinion, backed up by a lot of actual facts about basic human biology. It's not a call to re-open Auschwitz for the alphabet people, no matter how much the activists and allies try to make it out to be.

And if a mass banning of anti-fascist accounts begins then it's because the users behind those accounts are always promoting actual real violence against their targets. Ask Andy Ngo, JK Rowling, Jordan Peterson, Eric Weinstein, and a host of others who ended up in Antifa's gunsights about that. It's out in the open for anyone to see. Or at least for anyone who has the actual guts to see what the side they've taken gets up to on Twitter at any given moment.

Replacing one tyrannic regime with another isn't freedom, it's trading yokes. He's letting the lunatics run the asylum and this is making the whole platform repugnant to advertisers reputations. That was the ONLY thing keeping Twitter going although it was taking on water even then now it's flooding in and there is no one bailing. At least Tic Tok has the Chinese Communist party to back them up, Elon is all alone and he is stinking of being a loser. That reek of failure will sink him.

I don't think one fail will sink him, because he still has so many other successes. But the shine of capitalist genius is definitely gone.

And I wonder what 'illegal' means. So many places define it differently.

Two things can be true at once:

1) Musk is a ridiculous man-child breaking his new toy
2) the way Twitter was operated before Musk bought it was atrocious as the platform had been entirely twisted to be a place where ONLY the most rabid of hard-left SJWs and other "activist" types were welcome; I have nothing but utter hatred for Trump/MAGA/Nazis/etc but there's thousands of other people who got caught in the crossfire, or who were deliberately targeted by the mob, who didn't deserve to get suspended or banned altogether

Both equally true, both equally provable. As for myself I'd rather have Twitter as the Wild West full of idiots spouting off than have it being a nest comfortable only for the sort of people with the same personalities as a roomful of Khmer Rouge exterminators making up lists of who gets it next. As they liked saying to anyone who dissented from their agenda, the overly-sensitive always have other places like TikTok, Tumblr, DeviantArt, and others to go to if they want to play Club FuBu among themselves.

Here's one positive change that happened recently too. Before an outsider who doesn't have an account or who hadn't logged in would only see the most recent ten or so tweets/replies on whatever account they wanted to view. They'd get prompted to join/sign-in and if they didn't they couldn't scroll any further through the account they were looking at. That came to an end yesterday. Now if you go to an account like The Onion or @dril for the funny stuff or any of the pro league accounts for sports you can now spend the entire day scrolling down to read absolutely all of it if you want to. That's great because that "sign up because you're not allowed to go any further" was total bullshit.

I'm looking forward to if they get around to adding a "sort by" function where you can hit "oldest" and go way back in time to when some of these accounts first started. There's a lot of great weird stuff from back in the 00's that shouldn't be inaccessible just because an account's made thousands and thousands of tweets since the time they first joined up back in the ancient days of @Jack.

He’s letting the inmates run the asylum is what he’s doing. They spread hate under the guise of free speech and get offended when they get called out on it.
