BartSimpson BartSimpson: Here's a question; in a country with government run health care would it be out of line to ban such offerings at restaurants given that they absolutely will cause health care expenditures to rise? It wouldn't be out of line if cigs and booze get banned with them. Although a more workable alternative would be to tax the shit out of fast foods and corporations that offer fast foods.

It's pretty close to a Big Mac (540 calories, 29 g fat and 1020 g sodium) in everything but sodium, so I don't see it as that big a deal. The Baconator is far worse (calorie wise) than this one.
Much ado about nothing...

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog: Sometimes you have to, because in the end, even if you exercise and eat healthy you still die anyways. Do people who deny themselves the pleasures in life really live longer....or does it only seem that way? With that I can agree with completely, however, I don't know if eating greasy chicken and bacon can quite qualify as a "pleasure."

Gimme a Double Down with a Campbells soup chaser !! If you really want to make the health care system pay, eat that while sitting on the couch watching Simpson reruns. Man, that little Bart is a pain.

To a large extent that's a hard question. On one hand you want to reduce costs but you don't want to trample on anyone's freedom either. I say that we should pass laws that make the best of both worlds and force fast food companies to post the fat and calorie content next to all items on their menus. I hear they are in the process of applying this law in some states and I think it's a great idea. It accomplishes the goal of healthier eating without limiting anyone's freedom. edit: California has this law already in place and the House of Representatives is already looking into making it a nationwide requirement. Rock on.

Yogi Yogi: Hmm. Since I like KFC, this does look really good. To be honest, I don't really understand the 'calorie thing' except that if a person eats too much food without a corresponding amount of activity to burn off some of those calories, they gonna get fat! Simple math; intake/output need to balance. Anyway, On my next trip into the city, I'll pick up a couple of these. Should go good with pie & icecream/whipped cream, and a couple of Pepsi's. Ick. Just ick. I'm gonna have that with Coke instead.

Frankly, I apply the "King's Coin" rule to this. So long as health care is provided by the government then the government is obligated to restrict such offerings. It's a matter of the government's fiduciary responsibility to the taxpayer to contain health care costs.

RUEZ RUEZ: That's not a meal. It's disgusting and the reason so many Canadians are fat. Being fat isn't ok it's unhealthy. That's okay, because this is where survival of the fittest would come in handy Or at the very least, the world's population might even out...LOL -J.

Barring those peeps who are killed suddenly, we all, regardless of how we live our lives, are going to be 'a drain' on the health care system during 'the final run'. What difference if I smoke-drink-eat unhealthy, then my kidneys start to shut down and I require extensive treatment to keep me alive or help me recover , or 'you' who 'live healthy lives', and your kidneys, for any other reason, shut down and YOU require the same medical attention?
Or would you have us all believe that peeps who live 'healthy life-styles' will just one evening, pop their teeth into the ol 'chopper hopper' turn out the bedside lamp and close your eyes for the last time???
