$1:
“For Cherry, Canadian nationalism rests on an unquestioning support for the military, support of traditional institutions and (a) view of hockey that highlights the physical nature of the game,” they write in their study.

“This guy has a huge viewing public and, even if it’s only a small segment of society that actually takes what he says to heart, it’s a significant audience that he reaches with this particular view of Canadian nationalism, which doesn’t take into account multicultural society (or) women,” said Nater, who provided an advance copy of his paper to the Star.

I guess some academics don't like to see Canadians express themselves through hockey and pride in their military.

"an identity that may leave some women and multicultural communities cold" Garbage! women and "multicultural communities" will understand, embrace and / or laugh at Mr Cherry! Canada is a nation of immigrants. If you don't "get" being Canadian, and you aren't trying, then you don't belong!

Yeah I guess the next step for these 'academics' will be to start
to start calling Don a Nazi.

Never a good idea. If Cherry is your idol you need to get out more.

You mean like travelling to Afghanistan to support our troops like Don? That's getting out more alright.

If the troops idolize Don Cherry, then they're not as bright as we're always told Canadian soldiers are.

How is that in the least bit relevant?

Well, you think that a profession that is grateful for support should 'get out more' if they appreciate Don Cherry.

Knowing what you do for a living helps frame your viewpoint.

I would bet money that this would apply to 95% of academics and, at the least, a majority of leftists, too.

Honor and manly character are a danger to these vermin.

“Cherry uses the word ‘troops’ a total of 12 times during the season. This is in addition to his use of the word ‘soldiers’ six times and ‘battle’ four times. Cherry also mentions ‘war’ four times during this season,” says the study.

WOW!!! 12 times he used the troops over the whole season.

What a fracking joke.

I support our TROOPS, Don and hockey 100%. [flag] PDT_Armataz_01_40
