Interim NDP Leader Nycole Turmel said it is illegal to counsel someone to commit suicide and that in effect was what Boisvenu had done.

Well, I see Nycole managed to keep her place in the hot, unrelenting sun.

Who?

Sometimes the answer to dispair is a full clip and some privacy.

Who says all the Rednecks are in Alberta? Oh yea, Ontairians. ;)

I'll have you know I have never said all the rednecks are in Alberta....just most of 'em :P

Why 'a full clip'???

It was sarcasm, but I have a friend that is a ambulance driver. He regularally picks up people who attempted to end their life by swallowing a gun . . . and missed. And had no more ammo. And their life probabally was worse after their attempted suicide than before.

If I ever were to end my life that way, I would be sure of having a full clip. But seeing how my best friend (doggie) went a couple weeks ago when I had to put her down, an overdose of anasthetic would be my preferred way. Much faster than I thought it would be, and totally painless. Sad, but painless. :(

Yeah... that's what he said. He's giving those guys in for life, the POS ones that will never get out... an out.

Come on, really? With a rope? Not a lethal injection? Firing squad?

Grunnair Grunnair:
Anyway, this ain't about juries.

It's about making sound decisions, based on reason over emotion.

Really. We don't have the death penalty. These guys getting a rope is an out.

No issue with that.

There's reason here if you are not to emotional to see it.

Fair enough. Should we have a criminal on the committee too? I mean, who has more expert value on the topic of crime than criminals? I say to "No" to both extremes. Let them testify, share their knowledge, but staff the committee with folks who can think impartially.

Politicians are criminals! [B-o]

I know it was. Mine too! I actually know a guy who shot himself 6 times in the head with a .22. He is still 'alive' and gotten on with life, but he does have some 'residual effects'. Coincidentally, this took place in Ft. Mac in '75.

Sorry to hear about your pooch Caleb. I'm so gawdam attatched to my lil guy that I'm dreading the day when...

Very sorry to hear that. I too was surprised how fast it was when I put my Juno down three years ago. Still one of my hardest days ever. I feel for you, buddy.

Whatever you say.. I voted NDP. But don't let facts get in the way of you defending this idiocy.

Your point is that it will hurt the Conservatives and help the Liberals while it's citation from an individual that 70% of people (from a poll here in Quebec) agree on.

So what was your point ?

My point was that giving weapons to prisoners is a bad idea, and reflects how the Conservatives have no good ideas to combat crime. They can't even pass crime legislation when it receives unanimous support in the house of commons. If they could, they would have done it 6 years ago when they promised to do something about crime. Instead they are focused on passing legislation that will help organised crime to prosper. That their failure to comprehend the problem prevents them from implementing a useful solution.

My point was that giving weapons to prisoners is a bad idea,

They already have so many alternatives to ropes if they wanted to strangle, stab, bludgeon guards if they wanted to. I don't think think the senator was serious about actually giving them real rope because I mean they can kill themselves anytime they want as it is, the only thing stopping them from succeeding, most of the time, are the guards. Maybe he was more saying that the question should be 'why do we care if they kill themselves?' Suicide is not against the law.

I'll start, many don't have proper mental functions to understand what they are doing. I'll add, I won't address the argument that they are under a lot of stress in jail, because that's part of going to jail so tough!

WOW, I never thought I'd hear an NDP supporter advocate eliminating current prison activites. No more wood shop. No more machine shop. No more weights for working out. If giving prisoners weapons is a bad idea, then giving them access to activites with tools that can be used as or used to make weapons must be a bad idea as well.
Jeez Curtman, you act like because he espoused an opinion based on personal feeling, he's going to try and get it legislated.

If you want to see a truly fucking dumb comment, go back and read what I quoted in my first post in this thread.

Turmel's comments are becoming a spectator sport. Talk about making the orange crush flat.
