It absolutely should not be expected. It should be expected that people give each other the benefit of the doubt. It should be expected that the colour of ones skin should not be a factor in the way he or she is viewed by others. It should be expected that CSIS have some tangible, demonstrable reason for speaking with a specific individual before speaking with them. Some credible, direct link to an actual threat. It should be expected that CSIS be prohibited from what is essentially the intelligence equivalent of phishing.
Well the world doesn't work that way now does it? So as a muslim it should be expected coming to a country founded by white christians you are going to be looked at differently. No different then I going to an Islamic country I will be looked at differently. This is human nature and maybe you should take your rose coloured glasses off.
CSIS is doing it's job in investigating and looking into communities for threats. No different than them investigating all the Persian, Chinese, white power, anti-homosexual, Pro-IRA, FLQ, and every other type of gang, group or people. If Muslims find there are being singled out that is tough but Canada has a right to defend itself into possible threats towards the country. The fact remains if reported troubles are coming out of mosques then CSIS is going to start looking into them more closely just like they do with every group or people in Canada.
Also last time I checked calling someone or asking to meet with them isn't a breach of anything. If you think it is you must be very stupid or you must be calling your lawyer everytime a telemarketer calls you.
