Curtman Curtman:

In case you missed it, there is absolutely nothing wrong with "robocalls" as far as the rules are concerned. This is not an Elections Canada rule being broken, it's a CRTC regulation. Gutter politics isn't what we're talking about here. Its a technicality that was reported by the campaign that made the mistake. Nobody was "caught" after a cover-up like we're watching unfold with the Harperites.

Your inexperience is showing.

This isn't a "mistake" as they would like you to think, this was a calculated message that they were ashamed to have their name attached to. When you send out an inflaming robo-call and "forget" to attach your name and any other detail you have to by law, that's gutter politics.

This "mistake" happened by an experienced (lawyer) politician who's claim of ignorance about the rules is laughable simply because it's not his first campaign, he's been through it with his father and rules for these types of things are made VERY clear to you by Elections Canada.

I'm glad he manned up, which is more than most will do but the excuse that "we didn't know" is just laughable as people like you actually buy it.

Its nice to see that nobody has a problem with the subject of the calls.

The extremists should keep drawing attention to this issue. They'll do the advertising for the LPC.

Mainly because it's bullshit.

The "Conservatives are scary" message that we've been hearing for 7+ years hasn't materialized nor would any abortion issue come about based on the feelings of a backbench MP.

Liberals have pro-life people too. Perhaps we should be scared of them.

Two threads on this topic? The reformacons around here sure get excited when they think someone else was finally in a scandal.

Heavens no! Delivering factual information about the reformacon's anti abortion crusade without a phone number AND address in the message! Directly to the gutter indeed.

Factual?

They lied through omission Curt, why can't you just man up and admit when your guys drop the BONG?

Fixed that for ya. :D

This incident isn't anything like the "Pierre Poutine" robocall scandal. Looks more like an honest mistake to me since they just left out certain identifying information (which was irrelevant considering the message was about strategic voting).
The Pierre Poutine incidents had malicious intent and could've illegally affected election results... big difference.

It isn't anything like the "scandal" that has no evidence or charges? [huh] Let's discuss that if anything comes to the surface and hang those accordingly.

Eyebrock Eyebrock:
Who cares? This is all so very high school. "We caught you!" vs "We caught you too!"

Pathetic.

There are some of us who are tired of the bush league politics on either side of the spectrum. Perhaps you don't mind the tactics heading straight into the gutter, but some of us do.

Caring about gutter tactics has no impression on the sales-guys. You just want to beat a partisan Lib over the head.
