The planet will survive us. At the very worst, we'll have a mass-extinction event but we can only hope that we'll be part of that. Since we screwed it up, we should be the next to go. In a few million years, after the planet has healed itself, maybe a better intelligent life form will evolve.

Yep, a lot of people talk about the end of the world, when in reality, it's more likely the end of human civilization or mankind.

Earth has survived at least five other mass extinctions we know about and odds are there will be a couple more before the sun swallows up the earth in a billion years or so.
