Trudeau says he'll limit emissions from Oil and Gas.

It's cute how he thinks he has any power to do so. Trudeau is an idiot, and Big Oil has billions. It's not going anywhere.

Funny, I thought I lived in a democracy, where the elected Government made the laws, not a Corporatocracy where the businesses made laws.

They've had 26 of these meetings, so if this is the first one they actually do anything, then 25 of them were wastes of time.

Canada to stop financing fossil fuel projects abroad
$1:
The federal government announced Thursday morning it will cut subsidies that help oil and natural gas companies operate and expand outside the country by the end of next year.

The United States, New Zealand and Costa Rica are also among a total of 24 countries signing the international statement.

The countries are pledging to direct the funds to clean energy development.

If every one of the countries implements the change, the policy could transfer about $15 billion US ($18.6 billion Cdn) a year of public money out of fossil fuels and into clean energy, officials said.

I never figured why they were subsidizing things in other countries for such a profitable industry. Now they need to stop it domestically.

More shortsightedness from our illustrious UCP overlords.

Randy actually said 'why send more people to a gab session'.

I feel so privileged to have a far sighted leader like this.

The UCP isn't about talk, they're about action. Randy handles everything with the deft touch befitting a statesmen of his high caliber.

Some countries/states/provinces have implemented changes, but then you get a conservative government elected and they roll back any progress that was made by previous governments (like Kenney killing the carbon levy).

Still, you're not wrong that these are often more for PR than actual policy changes.

I should give Europe credit. They actually have reduced their carbon emissions 40% from 1990 levels, and the UK has reduced 45% from those levels.

Totally collapsing their economies in the process. /s ;)

It's North American governments, and Eurasian governments that shat themselves.

I'm sure Alberta will lead the way down into financial oblivion by refusing to accept that oil and gas are the current equivalent of VCRs and typewriters.

Oil and gas make the world go around. Everything uses/is made by/contains fossil fuels. Anyone who thinks we can simply turn off the need for fossil fuels is living in an alternate reality based in fiction.

Anyone who thinks we can't change that paradigm is simply parroting what the oil industry PR firms want them to say. There are many economies that aren't based on oil and gas, as shown by the other oil and gas trope that developing countries need the ability to develop their economies based on oil and gas, like we did. As if they have to start in the 1850s, and work their way up to current technology.

We have the technology right now that can replace many of the things we need fossil fuels for, that don't emit CO2.

I don't know how he can believe what the oil and gas elites are feeling him.
