What was the dumbass doing driving it with even a CHANCE of black ice? My Grand National doesn't leave the garage when there's a chance of rain, let alone snow or ice. Dipshit.

It's not the car, it's the tires. Lambos will come with high performance summer tires, no good on ice. Even most all seasons aren't that fantastic.

It might be a heavy car (3700 lbs isn't that heavy) but it has 245's in front (9.6 inches) and 335's (13 inches) in the back - that's distributing that weight over a large contact patch.

It also puts out a ton of power, so very easy to kick the wheels loose.

These work just fine Image

and these do pretty well too: Image

Actually I had a set of Goodyear all seasons on a Dodge Colt AWD and had better traction than Grand Cherokees and other real fourwheel drives. And on the fourwheel drives I owned, I found Goodyear Wranglers and Michelin AT's to work reasonably well on ice too - soft rubber compound and lots of sipes are the key.

I don't know about state laws where this man is from, but in The Netherlands, those are not allowed.

They're allowed in BC during the winter. And studless snowtires, with special low temp compounds work very well too, as long as you don't drive like a hairbag.

Really, wow. I run studded tires in the winter. Winter snow tires are great and all but they are nothing compared to studded tires on the ice. Mind you I drive on a lot of ice roads and logging roads in the winter so I pretty much need them. The only problem with studs, well two problems is that they wear down and you have to have them off by the end of April.

This is how you drive a Lamborghini in winter conditions an open field so you don't hit anything. 8)

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
If I won it I'd have to drive it for a few weeks before selling it, too. Seriously, how many people in the world can say they've driven a Lamborghini let alone say that they've owned one?

Sell the car, use some of the money to rent one for the weekend just to say you did it.

That's not snow, that's just a light dusting. Before you can consider it snow, there has to be at least 6 inches.

Nope, stickin' to my guns.
The ice is just lying there doing nothing. You're the one driving the car. No such thing as black ice.

Okay, I guess that definitely puts an end to the discussion.

What country do you live in?

Black ice forms when wet dirty snow freezes, usually below -15. It is the same exact colour as asphalt. Hence the name 'black' ice. You can't and won't see it unless there is a light source reflecting off of it to let you know it's shiny and different from asphalt.

You should however have learnt to expect it, in winter.
