The Police are contemplating charging him with a hate crime.......this is bizarre.

Brookwell said the man showed up at the forum wearing "a handkerchief over his face that was the Confederate flag" and immediately caused a stir.

"When challenged as to why he was dressed like that, he indicated that he wanted to make a point," Brookwell said.

Things then got "heated" and the man was escorted out of the building and the doors locked behind him.

Police were called and found the man in a vehicle parked nearby.

Brookwell said the man was arrested and police are considering charges of wearing a disguise and uttering threats, although no charges have yet been laid.

"Given the nature of these allegations, our hate crime co-ordinator will be having a look at this file," he said.

And you're right on point again calling anyone who doesn't agree with you "racist" But, allow me to suggest that before you embarrass yourself anymore you should start checking your facts.

It isn't illegal to carry or possess a Nazi Flag in Canada so your claim that walking around with one constitutes a hate crime is once again..... wrong.

So it's really a stretch to say this guy wearing Lee's Battle Flag on his head is a hate crime.

BTW section 319 deals with public incitement of hatred which doesn't specifically mentions the Confederate flag. So, given Canada wasn't part of the American Civil War, never had slave ownership, didn't fight for the Confederacy and never flew Lee's Battle flag for any reason the charges are just another PC tool to shut someone up.

So, the wearing of this flag on your head to express a point about the stupidity of allowing people to hide their identity when getting gov't issued ID's or taking citizenship oaths probably means that if justice prevails this person will walk on the "hate crime" charge.

It should be considered a sign of mental defectiveness and they should've locked him up for a psych assessment.
If you're a Canadian and in Canada, the only reason to wave or tout a Confederate flag is to be offensive, to prove you're an asshole.
If you're an American in Canada many people would think you're an asshole, most would think you were a Yank from the South who didn't know better.

it has nothing to do with whether or not anyone agrees with me. it has to do with white people upholding an unqualified supremacy over People of Colour. the Confederate flag is a symbol of racist violence.

i have never done any such thing and, in fact, i hold people who defend Stalin, Mao, Lenin, and Trostky (all of whom were capitalist imperialists, btw) with the same contempt i do for people who think waving a Confederate flag and provoking racist violence is in any way acceptable. the Confederate flag is also a symbol of mass murder by the capitalist slave-owning class.
