I don't think these guys are heroes. There was great potential for them to accidentily kill innocent bystanders. Police have training in these pursuits that outside of indycar civilians don't. Vigilantism isn't something society should encourage.

Does it even name the subject or what charges he is facing (I don't see it?)

$1:
"Our operator did not do what he should have done .... Thank God nothing happened," he said.

Agreed. The operator should have told them to stop.

$1:
"When they put her in the back of the car, that was heroism," White said. "What happened after wasn't."

Agreed too. But, from both of them, the guy with the Porsche as well as the victim. After just "being picked up" and assaulted and then trust another stranger enough to jump in his car while you have a 911 dispatcher on the phone, so help will come anyway... I wouldn't do it...

I might not have done it with her or my buddy in the seat, and 170kph through residential areas would have been bad, but good on them regardless. This is about borderline of what I think citizens should be allowed to do when it comes to vigilantism.

Also, if someone was doing this in some Japanese import, a Chevy Cobalt, etc. I would call it reckless, but if the guy owns a Porsche, and is willing to drive it like that, he probably knows how to drive it like that.

If they were chasing a car with an abducted child in it, I would say good on them. Chasing a murder suspect, etc. But not for something like this. Sounds like the only thing they saw was a guy shouting at a chick and off they went at 170kph. Hearts in the right place, but bad decision. Fortunate nobody got hurt.
