Curtman Curtman: Gunnair Gunnair: I don't see adds on buses challanging ones lack of faith, do you? Yeah. Maybe Winnipeg is unique having Bruce Martin from Calvary Temple. Could be just a local thing. He's regularly telling people via advertising that they are miserable, and they should "Come Investigate Jesus" to solve all their problems. How is that challanging ones lack of faith? It sounds like an invitation - more like an offer of hope, take it or leave it. This is offensive to Athiests how?

http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/god-on-the-brain/Rudi Affolter and Gwen Tighe have both experienced strong religious visions. He is an atheist; she a Christian. He thought he had died; she thought she had given birth to Jesus. Both have temporal lobe epilepsy. Like other forms of epilepsy, the condition causes fitting but it is also associated with religious hallucinations. Research into why people like Rudi and Gwen saw what they did has opened up a whole field of brain science: neurotheology. The connection between the temporal lobes of the brain and religious feeling has led one Canadian scientist to try stimulating them. (They are near your ears.) 80% of Dr Michael Persinger’s experimental subjects report that an artificial magnetic field focused on those brain areas gives them a feeling of ‘not being alone’. Some of them describe it as a religious sensation. His work raises the prospect that we are programmed to believe in god, that faith is a mental ability humans have developed or been given. And temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) could help unlock the mystery. (Excerpt from bbc.co.uk)

Gunnair Gunnair: Guy_Fawkes Guy_Fawkes: Gunnair Gunnair: I don't see athiests offering scientific proof to the contrary.
Its not up to the atheists to provide proof that god doesnt exists, they are not the ones making the claim. Well actually they are. They are claiming there is no God. Prove it. Atheists are not the one claiming there is something and giving no proof, I could claim that there is an invisible unicorn or a celestial teapot circling the earth. I since I do not have any evidence for these claims I must provide proof. Thats just how the world works.

Not sure why Athiests need to go around this buoy every few months, but they certainly have a need.

I'm now very curious to know why the fuck you think it's your business to decide what hope an individual has? That's a rather personal decision that an individual makes. If you are content to believe that there is nothing, which I might add has yet to be proven scientifically, then that is your concern. All you're doing is trying to convert others to your beliefs - the truly hypocritical position so completely lost on crusading athiests.

Not sure why Athiests need to go around this buoy every few months, but they certainly have a need. The why is because it's Christmas, same as it was last year when we discussed this. It's designed to ruffle your feathers, so that more attention is drawn to it I think. I don't know why Muslims, Christians and atheists feel the need to convert one another to their side. It seems silly to tell one they shouldn't be allowed to advertise though.

$1: We do have scientific proof that there is no god.
Why There Almost Certainly Is No God
Almost is scientific proof that God doesn't exist? Good thing our legal system isn't based on almost.

Curtman Curtman: $1: About a quarter of Canadians said they didn't believe in any God in a 2008 poll on religion Poll underlines sharp divide on religionI'm having trouble reconciling these two articles.. 75% believe in a god, and 64% believe that religion is harmful. No wonder our elections turn out the way they do. Believing in a God and Religion are not synonomous. Did I spell that right?

Its not up to the atheists to provide proof that god doesnt exists, they are not the ones making the claim. It's an unprovable arguement for either side, that's just trying to win the arguement by passing the buck.
