Seems the Chinese believe that anyone who helps someone else is responsible for what happened.

Reason #3,256 why China will never rule the world.

It's a girl, so who cares? Now they can they can try again for a boy.

(before anyone attacks me, both my kids are girls. Luckily, we are allowed to have more than 1. In China, you are not.)

"Not my business" seems to be a common, and despicable Chinese attitude. One unfortunately they bring with them here as immigrants. But the Chinese govt prosecuting people who do come to the aid of others doesn't help matters.

Yeah, let's toss out generalizations!

It's called the Bystander Effect and it's hardly a Chinese only attitude. It was discovered because of the 1964 murder of Kitty Genovese in New York.

Maybe it affected New Yorkers at one time but Americans (and Canadians, for that matter) in general are a helluva lot different than the bystanders in China...

I saw the video of this on LiveLeak, was very horrible. Not just run over once but another van came down and just ran over the baby without a care in the world to move past the kid as most the bikes and cars did. Than a flood of people just walked past her without giving a second thought to help her. Than at the end some lady who worked at a building the toddler was outside of who was putting trash away saw her and helped her.

Can you post the link? I went looking and did not find it. But what I did find doesn't speak well for the Chinese.

Edit: Never mind.

CAUTION this is disturbing and it'll also upset anyone who thinks that all cultures are equal. It's actually far more callous than the New York thing from 1964.

That's not restricted to Mainland China. It's the same here in Taiwan. The Chinese tend to be better to their friends and worse to strangers when compared to Westerners. Also, like many places in China, the sidewalks and streets are the playgrounds of small children, most left untended while the parents work. This is all compounded by a society that has little to no concept of proactive thought...they are only capable of reacting. Contingency is a word that they can't understand or pronounce.

The OWS campers are lazy, unemployed welfare bums looking to increase their free handouts so they can smoke more pot and do far less shit. Those Tim Hortons baristas pumping out a pot every twenty minutes are their most vocal supporters.

How's that for a generalization?

I'd be more quick to toss out a generalization about shitty Chinese drivers than reclusive attitudes to not caring about innocents.

Gulp at the very thought of China 'driving' the world economy.

Comments about their lack of driving skills are NOT generalizations. They are facts.
