Asian societies (medieval Japan for example) have often looked askance at Christianity as a source of internal strife, because Christians follow God and not their nation's leader. Because of frequent purges and expulsions, Christianity ranks pretty low in most Asian countries.

The Philippines (which Spain ruled for centuries) and South Korea are the exceptions in east Asia to this (nearly 1/3 of Koreans are Christian).

The Chinese are really communist in name only now, and are more interested in eliminating opposition and wealth and power creation than anything else, kind of like Nazi Germany was.
